JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Population Council seeks applications from highly experienced, active and self-motivated quantitative researchers with extensive experience in the migration sector in Ethiopia (internal and external).  The consultant will work with Council researchers in research design, training, data collection and analysis of a largescale study of migrants in Ethiopia. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support design of quantitative research and research instruments related to migrants in Ethiopia, both cross border and internal.
  • Support writing of protocol and facilitate in-country review by the appropriate authorities.
  • Closely collaborate with other project researchers to ensure quality training, adherence to ethical procedures and proper management of data.
  • Help to supervise data collection and data entry, ensuring high quality data and no irregularities or inconsistencies in the data.
  • Support analysis and report-writing.
  • Other activities as may be required by the research team.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree or PhD or related field and a minimum of 8 years’ experience.
  • Extensive experience in quantitative research, including design, management and analysis. 
  • Excellent Amharic and English language skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively with national and international colleagues.
  • Ability to work and in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Ethiopia, as required.
