Main purpose of the job
The Project Coordinator (PC) is responsible to support the implementation and coordination of the JiSRA project with partners through providing technical support to, monitoring, and developing the capacity of implementing Partners. In addition, will also be responsible for ensuring that technical support is provided to partner staff, community based institutions and other stakeholders that are working for the projects.
The Project coordinator follows up, monitors and supports Tearfund partners to comply to donor requirements and conditions.

Works closely with Programme Quality Assurance and Management Lead and Tearfund Partners
Works closely with the Tearfund team in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities
Programme Strategy
- Contribute to Country Programme Strategy.
- Ensure Tearfund’s purpose, values, and the programme objectives are fulfilled through project activities.
- Responsible for the planning, daily management, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the JiSRA project
- Ensure activities are implemented according to plans and budgets,
- Ensure donor requirements are met and that activities are executed in line with acceptable quality standards.
Training, Learning, Research and Dissemination
- Facilitate training on Gender, Sexual Gender Based Violence, Freedom of religion and belief, non-violence communication & intermediation, and engagement of youth and women in peace building.
- Support research studies to identify topics to support dialogue on gender, women leadership & empowerment; peacebuilding, religious tolerance, drivers of radicalisation, and on reduction of religious affiliated conflicts.
- Collect stories, examples of efficient interfaith dialogues; Consolidate research findings, and lessons learned during the project implementation, and share it with Tearfund.
- Support joint review/development of existing and new learning materials and messages on religious tolerance and mutual co-existence, and addressing of harmful norms.
- Manage knowledge and experience coming out of this project and ensuring that lessons learned will be documented and incorporating into future planning
- Ensure the documentation of learning in a way that all project stakeholders can access resources
Project / Support function management
- Work closely with the country team and partner staff for the successful implementation of the JiSRA project in (activity schedules / plans) and subsequent donor reporting, in accordance with external donor requirements.
- Responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities and Provide support to partner organizations for successful implementation of the activities.
- Responsible for monitoring projects and ensuring they are in line with the contract agreements
- Undertake regular participatory monitoring visits to the partner’s projects to ensure adequate progress against action plans and objectives, and review of indicators
- Induct and regularly advise project and partner staff based on monitoring outcomes.
- Build partner capacity in implementing the project activities including strengthening of SHGs, Grass root level CBOs/FBOs,
- Provide technical advice and assistance to the implementing partner organizations
- Ensure all partners have systems in place to measure indicators as detailed in the proposal and log-frame
- Ensure timely submission of all reports to required standards
Corporate policy and compliance
- Maintain appropriate compliance systems and procedures as prescribed in accordance with standard Tearfund compliance policies and donor requirements.
- Conduct regular field visits to partners to monitor compliance with Tearfund Program requirements, providing training and advice on improvements, and reporting concerns to the CD and Programme Quality Assurance and Management Lead
- Ensure that policies, commitments regarding the safeguarding, protection of children and vulnerable adults, and the prevention of fraud and bribery are consistently applied.
- Ensure compliance of all projects to Tearfund’s Global Process System (GPS) for the implementation of project proposals, reporting, monitoring, evaluation, audit, learning, project completion and for compliance with donor terms and conditions.

- Support the development and modelling of a team culture characterised by a shared understanding of Tearfund’s vision and programme objectives, and commitment to Tearfund’s values and behaviours.

Networking and External representation
- Build positive working relationships with project stakeholders including community leaders and members, Government Authorities, other related stakeholders to build local community acceptance of Tearfund.
- Develop nurtures and manages relationships with Partners in agreement with the project framework.
- Facilitate regular meetings between partners to ensure project activities are on track and to share learning to increase overall improvement of project implementation
- Facilitate regular meetings with Partners, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders
- Facilitate linkages and networks within and/or between Faith based organisations
- Promote and encourage an openness to welcoming feedback from beneficiaries and communities, and learning from staff in line with CHS & Tearfund Quality Standards.
- Maintain constructive relationships with the relevant coordinating bodies, and represent Tearfund at formal meetings.
- In conjunction with the Country Director, and programme team builds constructive relations with Tearfund Partners and local churches, seeking opportunities for collaboration work in accordance with the Country Programme Strategy.
