The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical and clinical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of infectious and non-communicable diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training. The Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Directorate is therefore looking for an experienced applicant to join the biotechnology cases team and work on development of therapeutics, vaccines and diagnostics.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Write research proposals and grants
• Write SOPs and develop procedures
• Plan and conduct research
• Collect, organize, and evaluate data, write technical reports and manuscripts
• Work closely with the bioinformatics and the biotechnology case teams
• Assist other research directorates in designing relevant studies
• Plan and provide training to others

Job Requirements

• MSc Degree in Biotechnology with demonstrated experience in product development research including, but not limited to, molecular techniques, nanoscience, in silico drug target identification using bioinformatics tools
• 6 years related experience and 7 publications points.
