A Welder, or Brazer, is responsible for assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape. Their duties include reviewing blueprints, cutting metal into the appropriate shape and smoothing molten metal to remove creases.

Key Responsibilities:

•  To carry out all site welding & fabrication

• Must have high-pressure welding experience

• Responsible for the fabrication workshop.

• Responsible for adhering to all Health, Safety & Environmental in connection with welding and cutting processes.

• Assists in the mobilization, unloading, erection, and commissioning of the drilling rig and any repairs that may be required.

• Responsible for maintaining a work-related log book of work carried out.

• Participates in BOP drills, fire drills, and any evacuation drills.

• Participates in pre-operational meetings and weekly crew safety meetings.

• To compile all certification and records of all welding and fabrication jobs and to liaise with third-party inspection companies for all welding NDT processes.

Health, Safety & Environmental:

•  Responsible for adhering to all Health, Safety & Environmental in connection with welding and cutting processes.

• Supports all aspects of safety management including warning and forfeit recommendations under the Company internal H&S policy.

• Responsible for environmental protection of the site and surroundings

• Responsible for implementation of the COSHH regulations and any assessments ensuring that the rig crew are aware of the information available and the potential hazards together with the availability of any special protective clothing that can be issued for their added protection.

General:

• Promote teamwork on the Rig.

• Adhere to health & Safety at all times.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and experience required for this role:

• Welding & Fabrication skills,

• Must be fluent in English, Reading, Writing

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience

• Welding & Fabrication Competence certification.

• Ability to read and work with engineering drawings

• Hot Work Permitting experience

• Oilfield drilling equipment

• Management of confined space.

• First Aid

• Fire fighting course attendance beneficial.

• Have experience of working under pressure.

• Previous experience of working in an environment of this nature.
