GOAL implements a range of multi-sectoral development, resilience, recovery and humanitarian responses Programmes by being sensitive to cross-cutting issues including gender, accountably, child protection, HIV/AIDS.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Driver will be responsible to drive GOAL Ethiopia vehicles during Weekends, Evening time, Public Holidays, sometimes early morning from 5:00am and depending on need basis. The Driver is responsible for keeping the vehicle assigned clean, drives safely as per the driving policy manuals of GOAL Ethiopia and treats passengers properly. S/he is also expected to adhere to one vehicle one driver policy of the organization.
Key Duties/Task list
Drive GOAL Ethiopia’s Vehicle during weekends, evening time, weekends, public holidays, sometimes early morning from 5:00am and depending on need basis.
The work time of the Driver is as follows: Evening hours from 4:30pm to 10:00pm, Weekends and Public Holidays from 8:00am to 10:00pm, Airport drop from 5:00am to 8:00am.
The Drivers May be tasked to cover driver gaps during daytime activity based on the need basis.
The Driver may be assigned for field support to cover Driver’s gap when drivers are on leave.
Drives GOAL Ethiopia’s vehicles economically & safely as per schedule issued by the Senior Fleet officer.
Provides the necessary care for passengers and goods (checks and receives items) to be transported, always ensures that every passenger wear seatbelt while traveling in GOAL/ET’s vehicle.
Provide support to GOAL staff and visitors in transporting materials and persons, including loading and unloading GOAL vehicles as required.
Respect local traffic laws and drive within GOAL and locally established speed limits.
Do not accept unknown riders - particularly individuals carrying weapons, wearing military uniforms, or those linked to conflicts - inside GOAL vehicles.
Before departure fuel the vehicle and check oil and lubricant levels; verify that all documents are in order and available in the vehicle glove box; ensure the jack is available and operational; check the status of the spare tire, and ensure that a basic toolbox, first aid kit, wench control and flashlight (with batteries) are aboard the vehicle.
Ensure vehicles are never used for personal reasons without the approval of the senior managers.
Renews own driving license in a timely manner.
Undertaking minor repair and maintenance
Follow- up and make vehicle services as scheduled for A, B, C and D type of services and remind immediate supervisor expected date of services.
Understand the basic operations and maintenance requirements of GOAL vehicles so as to be able to operate them in a safe manner.
Performs routine checks on vehicles daily & reports as necessary on vehicle damage & time of service.
Checks/corrects proper functioning of all warning and safety instruments on the vehicle before operation.
Ensures that vehicles are always clean.
Ensures that all the necessary tools and accessories (jack with handle, tire range, screw drives) and all First Aid Kits are in place and in good working order.
Changes and cleans air filters, replaces, and adjusts A/C fan belt and check/adjust tire pressure as necessary.
Compiling Reports and other functions
Ensure vehicle is full in each fueling station and consumption is calculated and shown on the log sheet immediately after making the vehicle full.
Fills out log sheet/book for every trip as per GOAL policy, make sure passengers to sign vehicle log sheets and summit it at the end of each week.
Reports any vehicle problems including damage and breakdowns to supervisor immediately.
Notify the Senior Fleet Officer or designate of any movement of any vehicle from the office, any deviation from the planned route of travel, or changes of schedule.
Inform the main GOAL office of any danger – immediate or potential – to the security of GOAL staff or equipment due to demonstrations / riots in town, roadblocks, requisitions of vehicles by armed persons, shooting, etc. to alert staff.
Reports any accident to the police/relevant Government authority, to the Insurance Company and the supervisor immediately. Take care to complete all relevant forms as per GOAL policy.
Implements all necessary policies and procedures of GOAL and Road Transport Authority.
Ensure Fuel top-up or fuel receipt is submitted or send to Supervisor immediately after topping up
Avoid in loading unknown parcels, baggage, or other questionable loads into the vehicles.
Takes proper care and utilize the GOAL property i.e fuel, lubricants, etc… in economical manner.
Providing erranding and Liaoning service as required.
Perform other logistics activities as and when requeste
Keep trip log, noting kilometres and location when refuelling and at end of day.
Report regularly on progress by mobile phone.
Report any incidents, security or otherwise, after trip (or during trip where serious).
No unauthorised passengers in the vehicle except with the permission of the CD/ACD. Make sure the authorised passenger signs the Non-Liability Document before starting off the journey.
Inform Line Manager/Area Coordinator immediately regarding any accident including nature of accident, injured parties, damage to vehicle and any other essential info (location, time, etc). With Line Manager, fill out Accident Report in full for any accident.
General / Administrative
Log all trips on blackboard movement schedule/Daily vehicle movement logbook.
Carry out vehicle inventory check as per Vehicle check list.
Vehicles to be returned to the GOAL compound at the end of the trip in line with the cut off time of driving.
Keep driving licence current.
Inform Logistics Officer/Assistant at least 2 weeks in advance of any leave requested.
Comply with Rules and Procedures for GOAL Driver Policy.
Be mindful of GOAL’s reputation always.
No consumption of alcohol and drugs during work hours nor reporting for duty whilst under the influence of either the above. No consumption of alcohol in the prior 8 hours before reporting for duty
Responsible for filling out timesheets and prior authorisation for overtime.
Complete the Logbook for each journey each day ensuring that the team leader signs for each journey.
Transport of Goods
Sign Packing List/Delivery Docket for goods being transported.
Get consignee to sign Packing List/Delivery Dockets for receipt on delivery.
Give signed Packing Lists/Delivery Dockets to storekeeper/Logistics Officer/Assistant on return.
Work in collaboration with the guards in keeping accurate forms concerning the movement of vehicles and the stocks being delivered.
Other Duties
Cooperate with all members of the GOAL team and develop a good working relationship with all staff; always carry out duties responsibly and act in a professional manner.
Inform the Logistics Officer/Assistant of any difficulties or problems encountered.
Perform any other duties as assigned by Line Manager.

Qualification: Certificate in driver/mechanic

Basic mechanic knowledge
