SUMMARY 

The sponsorship program coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the overall coordination and administration of AGCI’s sponsorship program and family preservation initiatives. All God’s Children International serves over 900 children and families through the AGCI sponsorship program which focuses on empowering families with access to education, financial empowerment, and family strengthening. The sponsorship coordinator will support the planning, coordination, and execution of all sponsorship activities, acting as a key member of the overall sponsorship team

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Program Administration: 

  • Review prospective beneficiaries of AGCI’s sponsorship program in collaboration with partner woreda and social affairs offices. 

  • Conduct intake interviews for all new children admitted to the AGCI sponsorship program. 

  • Collect intake/exit documents and photos for all AGCI sponsorship beneficiaries. 

  • Maintain AGCI sponsorship database including recordkeeping of all new sponsorship beneficiaries, existing beneficiaries, logging services/communications, etc.   

  • Timely report newly sponsored children by AGCI supporters to woreda offices. 

  • Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of AGCI’s sponsorship program by conducting annual assessments and surveys with all active and exiting beneficiaries. 

  • Distribute program funds to qualifying beneficiaries in collaboration with the AGCI Ethiopia finance department. 

  • Maintain high standard of services to beneficiaries, partners, and external guests.

  • Assist in organizing and facilitating community training and AGCI Connection Camps.

  • Collect regular sponsorship updates for donors and sponsors via various mediums as directed by AGCI Headquarters and the Country Representative. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of trauma-competent care, tools, and techniques to create an environment of healing and connection for sponsored children and families. 

  • Maintain positive relationships with local administration offices, communities, and beneficiaries. 

  • Assist in the coordination of staff and donor visits to Addis Ababa and elsewhere in the country as directed by the AGCI Country Representative. 

  • Support the implementation and success of AGCI’s Sponsorship Program in various regions of the country. 

  • Ensure the protection of all children and families served by AGCI’s sponsorship program.

General Administration: 

  • Work with AGCI Headquarters to highlight the impact of AGCI’s sponsorship program in Ethiopia with individual sponsors, donors and foundations.

  • Support all manner of fundraising activities for AGCI Ethiopia.

  • Participate in weekly meetings with the AGCI Ethiopia sponsorship team, Country Representative and AGCI Headquarters. 

  • Ensure all sponsorship program records are maintained in compliance with policies and procedures, laws and regulatory requirements; maintain confidentiality and data-control/release of sponsorship information.

  • Participate in periodic sponsorship planning tasks, meetings or report outs.

  • Display excellent communication skills in English, Amharic and Aafan Oromo including writing, presentation, and listening abilities; display excellent ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure. 

  • Respectfully take direction from the AGCI Ethiopia Country Representative and AGCI Headquarters. 

  • Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance; can work evenings and weekends, as required. 

  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training courses as required. 

  • Work collaboratively in a trust based and relational team environment with a spirit of cooperation and remains open to all levels of work and support for the organization.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

The work environment while traveling domestically or internationally could contain several environmental factors, including, but not limited to outdoor weather conditions (extreme hot/cold), work in countries with high incidence of illness/disease or poor living conditions of its inhabitants, political unrest/danger and physical obstacles and/or hazards. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate; noise levels in travel to various countries could range from quiet to extremely loud, depending on the varying conditions.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • BA degree only two to five years related work experience in non-governmental organizations. Experience working in sponsorship programming preferred. Familiarity with community and social service agencies/resources in Ethiopia required plus a proven ability to work with children of all ages. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business correspondence, reports and inquiries in English, Amharic and Afaan Oromo. Ability to write error-free business correspondence, reports and presentation materials in English, Amharic and Afaan Oromo. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, donors/sponsors, clients, vendors, organization partners, and the public in English or Amharic. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computes rate, ratio, percent, and calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and currency conversion accurately. 

COMPUTER SKILLS 

  • Job requires basic computer skills including logging on to systems, word processing, spreadsheet, report writing, project management, presentation creation/editing, database, use of internet and communication by e-mail. Requires learning and ongoing use of AGCI’s sponsorship database. 

REASONING ABILITY 

  • Ability to work with and protect extremely confidential files and information and have the appropriate discernment regarding handling issues of varying complexity and sensitivity. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and can deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Has the discretion to weigh the levity of an issue and pass along to the appropriate party/leader within the organization, as needed.
