Job Summary:

The CathLab Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac cauterization procedures in the cardiac cauterization laboratory. This includes monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures, administering medications, assisting the interventional cardiologist, and ensuring a sterile and safe environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and collect vital signs before, during, and after cardiac cauterization procedures

• Administer medications and IV fluids as ordered by the physician

• Assist the interventional cardiologist during procedures by passing instruments, monitoring equipment, and providing clinical support

• Monitor patients closely for any complications or adverse reactions and intervene as needed

• Provide patient education and emotional support throughout the procedure

• Ensure the Cathlab environment is sterile and all equipment is functioning properly

• Document all patient care activities, medications, and procedure details accurately

• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care

• Maintain current knowledge of cath lab nursing best practices and procedures

• Write records accordingly and timely

• Performs other related duties as assigned

Working Condition

• The working condition will be Regular or shift as per the department Schedule

• Immediate Supervisor:  Head, ICU Nurse

• Department/ Unit:  Nursing Department

• Duty Station:  Addis Ababa

Job Requirement

Minimum Specification Requirement

Educational Qualification and Work Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent nursing qualification.

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working as a nurse in a cardiac catheterization lab or critical care setting

Knowledge and Skills Requirement

• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. (Optional)

• Proficiency in the use of advanced medical equipment and technology used in the DSA department.

• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the healthcare team.

• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

• Good communication and coordination skill 

• Ability to work under pressure

• Have some computer skills.
