Job Summary: 

Hatch Africa is undergoing a Digital Transformation, led from Ethiopia. This role will be a crucial part of expanding our suite of custom mobile apps to five countries, ensuring a smooth and effective rollout across multiple offices and international locations. This involves customizing and configuring our tech stack built with React, React Native, and Node.js to create new features and functionality for the requirements of each region. Additionally, you will interface with the expansion of our ERP, helping to streamline operations, enhance data visibility, and support the overall growth and efficiency of our global business processes.

Role KPIs: 

• 99.9% uptime of all key applications 

• On-time delivery of deployed features / bug fixes 

• <5% of defects found post-deployment 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Design, develop, and maintain web applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js). 

• Deploy, manage, and scale applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Firebase. 

• Develop REST APIs for apps and integrations. 

• Design and manage databases using PostgreSQL, SQLServer, and MongoDB. 

• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with team members. 

• Support Quality Assurance (QA) processes to ensure that all apps meet performance, reliability, and security standards before deployment. 

• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retros. 

• Implement unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability. 

• Participate in continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD), and dev ops. 

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other developers, to translate business needs into technical specifications and new apps. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

• 1-2 years of experience in full stack development using the MERN stack. 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 

• Proficiency in Node.js and React. 

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Firebase. 

• Understanding of SQL and experience with database design. 

• Knowledge of REST API development and API integrations. 

• Familiarity with version control systems (Git). 

• Experience with other frontend frameworks (Vue, Angular) is a plus but not required. 

• Experience with React Native is a plus but not required. 

• Familiarity with other cloud providers and services (e.g., Azure) is a plus but not required. 

• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) is a plus but not required. 

• Familiarity with or interest in other programming languages and frameworks for full stack development (e.g., Python, Django, Flask) is a plus but not required. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

• Excellent communication skills and an ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and stakeholders. 

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

• Adaptability to work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities. 

• Willingness to continuously learn and improve technical and soft skills.
