New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2007 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The organization was previously registered at the Ministry of Justice under registration number 3018 and later registered and licensed by the Federal Charities and Societies Agency as an Ethiopian resident’s charity by the Charities and Societal Proclamation No. 621/2009 by registration No. 0539. NMWEO has been re-registered according to the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No. 113/2019 with registration No. 0539.

Position Overview

New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is seeking 1 qualified and compassionate Social Workers for SRH to support the implementation of sexual and reproductive health and rights programs in Axum and Shire. The Social Workers will be responsible for delivering social services, providing counseling, and supporting communities in accessing SRH services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide social support and counseling to individuals and communities regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRH).

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of SRH awareness campaigns and educational programs.

  • Work directly with vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and displaced individuals, to ensure access to SRH services.

  • Provide case management and referrals to appropriate healthcare and social services.

  • Collaborate with local health authorities, NGOs, and community organizations to ensure the delivery of SRH services in the target areas.

  • Conduct assessments to identify SRH-related needs and barriers within the community.

  • Prepare and maintain confidential records, reports, and case files related to SRH interventions.

Advocate for the inclusion of SRH services in local health and development policies.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in social work or community-based services, with a focus on SRH or gender-based violence programs.

  • Strong knowledge of SRH issues, including family planning, maternal health, sexual violence, and reproductive rights.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.

  • Ability to work with vulnerable and marginalized populations in a sensitive and respectful manner.

  • Proficiency in Tigrigna, and English is required.
