Job Description

The Nurse Coordinator/Matron is responsible for overseeing nursing functions at Landmark General Hospital, ensuring alignment with the hospital’s goals, objectives, and standards, as well as directives from EHRIG & EHTG.

This role involves setting guidelines and procedures for best practices, managing staff rotation across different medical services, supervising nursing personnel, and ensuring adherence to protocols and quality standards. The Coordinator also plays a key role in staff training, patient care quality assurance, and overall nursing service efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Nursing Operations and Supervision

  • Plans, coordinates, assigns, and schedules rotations of head nurses, staff nurses, and other nursing personnel.

  • Establishes and enforces standards, guidelines, and procedural manuals to maintain best nursing practices.

  • Conducts periodic assessments of wards, facilities, and patient care delivery.

  • Ensures nursing staff adhere to hospital protocols and professional ethical standards.

  • Monitors and enforces proper documentation and reporting of patient care activities.

Quality Assurance & Patient Care

  • Supervises and evaluates nursing activities to enhance patient care and service efficiency.

  • Ensures 24-hour nursing coverage by managing staffing rosters for each unit.

  • Investigates patient complaints related to nursing services and implements corrective actions.

  • Ensures the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the hospital and ward environment.

  • Oversees proper administration, recording, and tracking of medications and medical supplies.

Staff Development & Training

  • Identifies learning and training needs for nursing staff.

  • Plans, recommends, and conducts in-service education and training programs.

  • Facilitates clinical teaching activities for staff nurses and student visitors.

  • Evaluates nursing staff performance and provides feedback for improvement.

  • Mentors head nurses and junior staff to enhance clinical competence and service quality.

Resource & Facility Management

  • Ensures nursing units maintain necessary supplies, including medications, consumables, and medical equipment.

  • Oversees inventory control, equipment functionality, and reports any breakages or losses.

  • Regulates patient visitor flow to maintain an organized hospital environment.

Leadership & Coordination

  • Leads the nursing team in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care.

  • Maintains discipline and professionalism among nursing staff.

  • Attends clinical meetings, rounds, and other administrative discussions as required.

  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient care services.

  • Ensures consistency of nursing procedures across all clinical units.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by hospital management.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Master's, Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Nursing or in a related field of study

  • Experience: 4-7 years of relevant work experience in nursing and coordination.

  • Excellent supervisory and leadership abilities

  • High level of commitment and professionalism

Working Conditions
