Duties & Responsibilities:

• Translation: Accurately translate documents, materials, and conversations between Chinese and another language (usually Amharic & English). This includes written translation (documents, reports, websites, etc.) and oral interpretation (meetings, conferences, phone calls, etc.).

• Interpretation: Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation during meetings, conferences, and other events, ensuring clear and accurate communication.

• Proofreading and Editing: Review translated materials for accuracy, grammar, style, and consistency.

• Cultural Understanding: Possess a strong understanding of both Chinese and the target language's cultures to facilitate effective communication.

• Research: Conduct research to clarify terminology and ensure accuracy of translations.

• Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to clarify project requirements and ensure satisfaction.

Job Requirements

• Education: A bachelor's degree in translation, Chinese language, or a related field is often required. 

• Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in Chinese, Amharic, English). Excellent written and oral communication skills in both languages are essential.

• Interpretation Skills: For interpreting roles, strong listening, comprehension, and memory skills are crucial.

• Cultural Sensitivity: A deep understanding of the cultural nuances of both languages.

• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for interacting with clients and colleagues.
