Job Purpose: - A General Foreman is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing on-site construction activities. They ensure that the work progresses according to the schedule, quality, and safety standards. The General Foreman acts as a key point of contact between the Site Engineer, Construction Engineer, and the on-site workforce, facilitating seamless communication and effective implementation of project plan.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervision and Leadership:

• Oversee and manage daily on-site construction activities.

• Provide clear instructions to workers and subcontractors regarding daily tasks based on directives from the Site Engineer and Construction Engineer.

• Ensure a safe and motivated team environment, addressing worker concerns and resolving conflicts promptly.

          2. Coordination with Site and Construction Engineers:

• Collaborate closely with the Site Engineer to interpret technical drawings, layouts, and specifications.

• Work under the guidance of the Construction Engineer to align on project milestones and address technical challenges.

• Communicate any site challenges, material shortages, or delays to the Site and Construction Engineers in a timely manner.

• Implement on-site adjustments or corrections as advised by the engineers.

  3. Planning and Resource Management:

• Plan daily and weekly tasks in consultation with the Site Engineer to meet project timelines.

• Ensure timely availability of materials, tools, and equipment in collaboration with the procurement team.

• Minimize wastage of materials and resources through careful management and monitoring.

• Anticipate potential obstacles and propose solutions to maintain workflow efficiency.

  4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Enforce adherence to project specifications and quality standards as instructed by the Site and Construction Engineers.

• Perform regular inspections to identify defects, ensuring prompt rectification.

• Maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards, conducting toolbox talks and promoting a safe work culture.

  5. Reporting and Documentation:

• Check daily progress reports for submission to the Site Engineer, detailing completed work, challenges encountered, and resource usage.

• Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and equipment usage.

• Ensure that site logs, checklists, and other documentation are up-to-date and submitted to the engineers as required.

  6. Stakeholder Communication:

• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors as directed by the Site and Construction Engineers

• Act as the primary on-site representative, ensuring consistent communication between the workforce and the engineering team.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Skills

• Level 3/ 10+3 in Building Construction and Technology or related field of studies.

Experience: 

• 8 years  and Above

Skills

• Strong knowledge of construction procedures, methodologies, and equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and technical documents.

• Proficient in managing teams and resolving on-site challenges. 

• Excellent communication and reporting skills to collaborate effectively with engineers and workers.
