NCA is a member of various civil society networks, coordination mechanisms, and clusters in Ethiopia. In its current strategic period (2025-2029), NCA Ethiopia implements programs focused on Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (CRWASH); Climate and Environment Stewardship/Economic Development and Food Security; Peacebuilding; Gender-Based Violence/Sexual/ Reproductive Health; and Humanitarian Emergency Response.

NCA has an Internship Program, letting on-the-job learning to qualified and young graduates with a particular focus on female candidates. Accordingly, applicants who fulfill the requirements are invited to apply for this opportunity.

Job Summary:

The Intern works with the CRWASH team, learns and gains experience, contributes to the proper implementation of projects, and preparation of reports, supports partners, and contributes to the improvement of the program.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Involve in planning and implementation of climate-resilient water, sanitation and hygiene (CRWASH) projects. 

  • Support partners in organizing the training of WASH Committees. 

  • Involve in joint initiatives with other programs of NCA. 

  • Cooperate and work with other team members and the technical staff of the implementing partners and learn and gain experience. 

  • Join the team during travels to the field for monitoring, providing technical support to partners, and ensuring coordination and collaboration.

  • Contribute to a write-up of reports. 

  • Ensure documentation of project information and timely uploading in the organization’s project information management system (PIMS). 

  • Involve in community-level sanitation and hygiene awareness campaigns.

  • Contribute to documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from WASH projects for knowledge sharing and replication.

  • Work closely with communities to understand their WASH needs, promote behavior change, and ensure community ownership of WASH facilities.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Professional Experience Required:

  • Education: The ideal candidate is a recent graduate (graduated within 2023/2024) in Environmental Health or Public Health with an average CGPA of 3.5 and above. The candidate should successfully pass the exit exam.

  • Technical skills: A skillset in using Microsoft Office suits. Software knowledge that is relevant to WASH activities and data collection and analysis is a plus. 

  • Languages: Proficiency in Amharic and English is required. Knowledge or proficiency in other local languages is an advantage.

Personal skills and attributes:

  • Positive, flexible, and open to learning.

  • Strong integrity and competence.

  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

  • Willing and able to travel to remote areas where NCA operates frequently.
