Cardiothoracic Surgeon
Designation: Cardiothoracic Surgeon

The Cardiothoracic Surgeon will specialize in surgical procedures of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest. This demanding role involves complex surgical interventions, critical care management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to treat severe cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
Clinical Duties:
Evaluate patients requiring cardiothoracic surgical intervention, including complex cardiac diseases (e.g., coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease) and lung pathologies (e.g., lung cancer, emphysema).
Perform a wide range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve repair/replacement, lung resections, and esophageal surgeries.
Provide critical care management for post-operative cardiothoracic patients.
Manage complications related to cardiothoracic surgery.
Collaborate with cardiologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and intensivists for comprehensive patient care.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain meticulous surgical and patient records.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings (e.g., heart team, tumor board) to discuss complex cases.
Contribute to the development and implementation of cardiothoracic surgical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
Educational Duties:
Educate patients and their families about complex surgical procedures, risks, and recovery processes.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in cardiothoracic surgery techniques and technologies.
Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
Specialization in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience in cardiothoracic surgical practice.
Exceptional surgical skills, precision, and ability to manage high-stakes situations.
Strong teamwork and communication skills
