Job Description

An Assistant L & D Manager will act as a change catalyst for cultural and organizational transformation through the development of function excellence among Team Members.

As an Assistant L & D Manager, you serve as an integral component of the Human Resources function by supporting learning and development initiatives through Hilton's comprehensive training framework. Specifically, a Assistant L & D Manager will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

• Facilitate Hilton International programmes and initiatives such as The Next Step in the Journey, Diversity, etc.

• Organize “Spirit of Hilton” Welcome Days regularly, as well as the induction of new Team Members according to standards.

• Revise and update existing Hilton Training Programmes.

• Create and introduce new training programmes and workshops.

• Co-ordinate and evaluate internal and external training programmes.

• Introduce external materials, films, and videos for specific training needs and maintain the library of training materials.

• Advise and assist management in achieving specific training and development objectives.

• Provide and/or source appropriate training for Directors and Heads of Departments where relevant externally.

• Stay up to date with market trends.

• Ensure timely communication of training activities to Team Members and Managers.

• Plan and follow up on cross-exposures within and outside the hotel.

• Record all training-on-Training Attendance records.

• Maintain accurate training records of all Team Members.

• Record training in “Training & Development Passports” where applicable.

• Ensure relevant certificates are issued.

• Champion E-Learning in the property by communicating to Team Members, activating and monitoring learners’ progress.

• Communicate “Hot Topics” to E-learners.

• Promote other Hilton University initiatives such as Aurolog Language Courses and Online Tutored Courses.

• Participate in the selection and certification of Team Coaches.

• Supervise Team Coaches.

• Motivate and counsel Team Coaches and ensure training manuals, motivation descriptions, and checklists are up to date.

• Actively maintain the Team Coach force.

• Organize regular Team Coach meetings.

• Assist in the coordination of trainee programmes (including Elevator).

• Liaise with Hotel Schools and Tertiary Institutions.

• Compile monthly reports on training activities for the Human Resources Manager or General Manager (for Managers’ Reports, HR Indicators, etc.).

• Compile monthly statistical reports as required by legislation.

• Participate in the Duty Manager Scheme where applicable.

• Participate in HOD meetings and inform managers of updates in Learning & Development.

• Participate in Team Member Forums.

• Attend yearly regional Assistant L&D Managers meetings.

• Assist in organizing social activities.

• Establish and maintain effective Team Member relations.

• Assist in regional training activities as required.

Job Requirements

An Assistant L & D Manager serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

  • MBA/BA  in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Education, or  related field.

  • A Master’s degree or postgraduate diploma in Learning & Development, Organizational Development or related field is an advantage.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in learning & development, training coordination or HR development functions.

  • Thorough knowledge of modern learning and development tools and technique

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent people management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop interpersonal relationships

  • Positive attitude

  • Committed to delivering a high level of customer service, both internally and externally

  • Excellent grooming standards

  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to work on their own or in teams

  • Proficiency, at an intermediate level, with computers and computer programs, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint

  • Exceptional presentation and grooming

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Tertiary qualifications, or other collegiate-level degree, in Training or Human Resources
