Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Preventive Maintenance

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and utility systems.

• Perform routine inspections and health checks of mechanical and electrical systems.

• Maintain detailed records of service and maintenance activities.

2. Corrective / Breakdown Maintenance

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns or faults.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems on-site.

• Coordinate with vendors or senior technicians for complex repairs when necessary.

3. Technical Support for MCP Facilities:

• Maintain and service:

  • Diesel generators

  • Water pumps

  • Milk pumps

  • Water boilers

  • Milk cooling systems (condensers) [Ga1] 

  • Fuel pumps

  • CIP (Clean-in-Place) units

  • Electrical panels, stabilizers, and power systems

• Ensure fuel, water, and electricity supply systems are operational.

4. Technical Support for Addis Ababa Office Facilities:

• Maintain diesel generator, water lines, lighting, and electrical power distribution systems.

• Perform mechanical related maintenance and repair tasks around the facility. (E.g. Door handle Maintenance, pipe installations, hand wash valve replacement, etc.)

5. Spare Part Planning & Inventory:

• Identify critical spare parts and consumables.

• Coordinate with the technical managers, warehouse, and procurement team to ensure availability of necessary spares.

• Maintain proper documentation of parts usage and requisition.

6. Hands-on Assistance and Emergency Support

• Provide immediate on-site and remote support for minor installations and quick fixes (e.g., replacing fuses, wiring repairs, basic plumbing fixes).

• Assist the technical team in emergency maintenance cases or project work.

7. Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare and submit maintenance reports, incident reports, and work completion forms.

• Keep accurate logs of all activities performed.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of diesel generator operation and maintenance.

• Understanding of pump systems (milk and water), boilers, and chillers/cooling units.

• Practical knowledge of electrical systems (panels, breakers, wiring, stabilizers).

• Basic plumbing and piping knowledge is a plus.

• Familiarity with fuel pump systems and fuel handling safety.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.

Soft Skills:

• Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

• Working on ERP and MS Office applications[Ga1]  and Emails

• Good communication skills.

• Organized and able to prioritize tasks.

• Team player with a hands-on, practical attitude.

Qualifications:

• Education: Diploma or Level IV and above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electro-mechanical, or related technical field.

• Certifications: Any additional certifications in generator maintenance, electrical safety, or refrigeration systems are a plus.[Ga2] 

• Flexiable to travel frequently to Milk Collection Points.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in industrial, utility, or food processing environments.

• Prior experience in maintenance of rural facilities or FMCG infrastructure (preferably dairy or beverage) is highly preferred.

• Experience handling both mechanical and electrical maintenance independently is essential.

• Must have a driving license
