The Deputy General Manager-Operations is an executive leadership role responsible for directing, coordinating, and optimizing the operational performance, profitability, and strategic growth of the company's highly diversified business units: Automotive (assembly, sales, aftersales, imports), Trade & Agriculture (exports, imports, farming, mining, commodities), and Transit/Logistics. The Deputy General Manager develops and executes a unified operational strategy, provides strategic direction to all unit heads, ensures financial and operational objectives are met, and champions best-in-class risk management, digital transformation, and service excellence across the entire organization's revenue-generating footprint. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer/General Manager and is critical to achieving the company's long-term vision and market leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities 

I. Strategic Leadership and Operational Direction

  • Strategic Alignment & Execution: Develop, communicate, and ensure the rigorous execution of the annual and multi-year operational strategy that drives revenue growth, operational efficiency, and market share across the Automotive, Trade/Agriculture, and Logistics segments.

  • Portfolio Performance Management:Oversee the comprehensive P&L and operational performance of all three business units. Implement robust monitoring mechanisms to track key performance indicators (KPIs) against targets, initiating corrective actions where necessary.

  • Cross-Business Synergy: Identify and capitalize on synergistic opportunities between the Logistics, Automotive, and Trade units (e.g., optimizing supply chain for imports/exports, utilizing internal logistics services) to maximize group value and reduce external costs.

II. Business Unit Management and Oversight

  • Automotive Business: Provide executive oversight and direction for the entire automotive value chain, including vehicle assembly, imports, marketing & sales, and aftersales services, focusing on market penetration and customer satisfaction.

  • Trade & Agriculture Business: Direct the complex operations of the trade division, encompassing international exports (coffee, cereals, oilseeds, mining products), farming processes, and large-scale imports, ensuring global quality standards and profitable trade execution.

  • Transit, Forwarding, and Logistics: Ensure the Transit and Logistics unit operates as a highly efficient, world-class service provider, both for internal business units and external clients, focusing on speed, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.

III. Risk Management, Governance, and Compliance

  • Executive Risk Framework: Lead the establishment and enforcement of a company-wide risk management framework that addresses all operational, commercial, compliance, and financial risks inherent in automotive, international trade, and logistics activities.

  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure all operational activities strictly comply with local and international regulations, customs laws, trade agreements, and environmental standards. Act as the executive sponsor for operational audits and governance reviews.

IV. Commercial Excellence and Digital Transformation

  • Customer Experience & Retention: Direct the design and deployment of an advanced Customer Relationship Management (CRM) framework and robust customer service quality standards to elevate client acquisition and ensure high retention rates across all business lines.

  • Digital & IT Strategy: Propose and champion the implementation of integrated, network-based information and ERP systems to digitize operations, enhance business intelligence, and provide real-time reporting capabilities for the entire business operation.

  • Supply Chain Optimization: Oversee the development of the company's import/export network, ensuring it functions as a highly efficient, resilient, and cost-effective global supply chain operation.

V. People Leadership and Development

  • Executive Coaching and Evaluation:Mentor, monitor, and formally evaluate the performance of Business Unit Managers/Directors and other direct reports, providing strategic guidance and fostering a pipeline of future leaders.

  • Policy Development: Direct the design, approval, and proper implementation of standardized operational policies, procedures, and working systems required for the scalable and compliant functioning of all operational units.

VI. Executive Reporting and Ad-Hoc Responsibilities

  • Periodic Executive Reporting: Prepare and present timely, comprehensive, and high-quality periodic reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly) on the operational, financial, and strategic performance of all business units to the CEO/General Manager and the Board of Directors.

  • Ad-Hoc Duties: Performs other related duties, assignments, and special projects as delegated or instructed by the General Manager/CEO, ensuring rapid response and effective execution on critical priorities.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • From recognized university second degree in Management/Business Administration/ Economics/ Marketing Management/Business Leadership/ Marketing and Sales Management/ International Trade/ Finance/ Accounting/ Automotive Engineering or other relevant field of study and 10 years related work experience, out of which 4 years in managerial position/s

  • Or

  • From recognized university/collage first degree in Management/Business Administration/ Economics/Marketing Management/Marketing and Sales Management/International Trade/ Finance/Accounting/ Accounting and Finance/Automotive Engineering or other relevant field of study and 12 years related work experience, out of which 5 years in managerial position/s

  • Demonstrated experience in managing at least two of the core business segments (Automotive, Trade/Exports, or high-volume Logistics) is essential.
