Job Description

About Lovegrass Agro Processing PLC:

Lovegrass Agro Processing PLC is a leading Ethiopian agro-industrial company dedicated to sustainable and ethical sourcing, processing, and export of high-quality agricultural products. Our commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and strong corporate governance is at the heart of our mission to nourish the world while enriching our communities.

To further strengthen our commitment to sustainable growth, we are seeking a passionate and skilled ESG Compliance Officer to join our leadership team

The ESG Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance framework. This strategic role is critical for ensuring we meet international ESG standards, comply with evolving regulations, and integrate sustainable practices across our entire value chain—from farm to export. The officer will act as the primary advisor to senior management on all ESG matters.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. ESG Program Development & Management:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive ESG strategy and policy framework aligned with our business objectives.

  • Establish and monitor key ESG performance indicators (KPIs) and targets.

  • Conduct gap analyses to assess our current ESG performance against global standards and customer requirements.

2. Environmental Compliance & Sustainability:

  • Oversee compliance with national environmental regulations and international standards.

  • Manage environmental impact assessments and develop strategies for resource efficiency (water, energy), waste reduction, and pollution control.

  • Lead climate risk assessments and develop initiatives for carbon footprint reduction and climate resilience, particularly within our agricultural supply chain.

3. Social Responsibility & Ethical Operations:

  • Develop and enforce policies on human rights, labor standards, health & safety, and community engagement.

  • Implement and manage a robust supplier code of conduct and due diligence process for our smallholder farmers and partners.

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace and our value chain.

  • Oversee community investment and development programs.

4. Governance & Reporting:

  • Ensure transparent and accurate disclosure of ESG performance in our annual sustainability report and other communications.

  • Prepare reports and presentations on ESG risks, opportunities, and performance for the Deputy Managing Director and the Board.

  • Strengthen internal controls and audit processes related to ESG.

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Training:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ESG-related inquiries from investors, customers, regulators, and NGOs.

  • Design and deliver ESG training programs to build capacity and awareness across all employee levels and with key partners.

Position Title: ESG Compliance Officer
