LOCATION: Location: Addis Ababa / Remote, with required field travel

We are seeking a dynamic, highly organized, and results-oriented Part-Time Storytelling and Communications Officer to play a crucial role in developing compelling impact stories in written, photographic, and video forms. This content is essential for showcasing the tangible impact of WHFC's work to key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the wider public.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct ethical interviews and collect compelling success and need-based stories.
• Produce clear, engaging written narratives for donor reports, campaigns, and publications.
• Capture high‑quality photos and basic video content during field visits.
• Maintain organized digital archives and coordinate content quality assurance with HQ.
• Provide basic storytelling and content‑production training to program staff.
Key Deliverables (Quarterly)
A minimum of Ten (10) high-quality, finalized stories (mix of need and success narratives).
A well-organized, curated collection of photos and short video clips from each field visit.
A submission of fully edited, ready-to-use narrative and visual content for external publication.
A concise monthly summary detailing activities, field travel, and materials collected.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Media, or a related field.
Professional Experience: Proven experience (2+ years) in high-impact storytelling, content writing, or journalism, preferably within the NGO or development sector (Writing samples are required).
Language: Exceptional written and verbal English with superior editing and proofreading skills.
Technical Skills:
Strong photography skills with the ability to compose clear, meaningful photo stories.
Proficiency in basic videography and simple video editing (using mobile phone or camera equipment).
Personal Attributes: Understanding of and commitment to child safeguarding principles; ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
Travel: Willingness and ability to travel to remote field locations.
Core Competencies
Storytelling: Creative, empathetic, and compelling narrative development style.
Communication: Strong interviewing, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills.
