The GBV Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reporting on GBV prevention and response activities within the Ethiopia humanitarian Fund project. He/she ensures survivors receive timely support, promoting community awareness, strengthening referral systems, and mainstreaming GBV considerations in the project. The position works closely with communities, local authorities, partner organizations, and protection officers to reduce risks and respond effectively to GBV cases.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Implementation & Coordination

  • Support the planning, execution, and monitoring of GBV prevention and response activities in the project.

  • Ensure GBV prevention components are integrated and meet the standard.

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify beneficiaries and appropriate protection interventions.

  • Monitor the activities of Snr. Community Mobilizers and Volunteers

  • Support the communities on GBV prevention activities.

  • Participate actively in the  GBV Sub-Cluster meetings

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Community Mobilization

  • Work closely with local authorities, NGOs, community leaders, and refugee committees to strengthen GBV response

  • Organize and facilitate training sessions and awareness campaigns for the community’s members on GBV response, referral, and prevention...

  • Represent the project in relevant meetings and forums related to GBV prevention.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Assist in data collection, monitoring, and evaluation to assess project progress.

  • Gather feedback from communities and staff to continuously refine and adapt services to evolving needs.

  • Document lessons learned, challenges, and best practices to inform future programming.

  • Prepare and submit timely reports to the Project coordinator.

  • Support the collection of data, assessments, and surveys to evaluate project impact.

  • Supervise and support facilitators, and volunteers engaged in GBV  prevention  activities.

4. Capacity Building & Training

  • Support training for community members on GBV prevention methodologies.

  • Assist in developing culturally appropriate materials and curricula for the community members in the refugee camp.

5. Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Ensure all project activities adhere to protection and safeguarding policies.

  • Identify and report any risks or concerns related to safety and well-being.

Job Requirements

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work, Development Studies, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3years of experience in protection or humanitarian programs.

  • Familiarity with the protection Standards frameworks.
