MELA FOR HER is a social startup enterprise based in Ethiopia that aims to transforms women and girls’ lives across Ethiopia by providing them with access to affordable and eco-friendly menstrual products, menstrual health education, and job opportunities.

We envision a world in which every girl and woman has access to sustainable menstrual hygiene products, understands the nature of sexual and reproductive rights, and is therefore empowered to her life and destiny.

MELA FOR HER is looking for a vibrant, energetic and committed intern to support our sales and marketing department. You will join a team of professionals united by commitment to a cause and shared values. Your main goal will be to contribute to MELA’s sales and marketing activities in order to ensure that all women and girls in Ethiopia have access to MELA’s products and services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Social Marketing and Sales Manager of MELA, the position holder will support the sales and marketing department in the following tasks:

• Social Marketing & Sales: conduct market intelligence and analysis to inform strategy; identify appropriate marketing and distribution channels, as well as potential customers and partners at national, regional and local levels to ensure that MELA’s products and services reach all women and girls across the country; contribute to the development of on-line marketing and communication activities and materials; carry out regular customer surveys, data entry and provide analysis to guide improvements.

• Fundraising, partnership building and networking: contribute to the identification of new funding sources, sponsors and partners to support MELA’s activities; ensure accountability and visibility for all sponsors and actions; support and actively participate in marketing and fundraising events (fairs, bazars, exhibitions campaigns, etc.); engage in various networks/platforms, representing MELA and fostering new opportunities. Other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Undergraduate or postgraduate student from Marketing, Economics or Business Management related studies.

• Basic experience in sales, marketing, communications and/or mobilizing resources. Knowledge and experience on online sales, communications and marketing will be an asset.

• A good understanding of social marketing and a passion for cause-based marketing.

• Knowledge and understanding of how the Health, Gender or related sectors work will be an asset.

• Experience in building and managing highly productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

• Knowledge of most common computer programs (word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook, etc.) and preferably design programs (Canva, etc.).

• Fluency both in Amharic and English (knowledge of other local languages is an advantage)

• Deep commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment and alignment with MELA’s vision, mission and values.
