Job Description

Selam Engineering (established in 2015) is a leading electromechanical engineering company engaged in telecom tower erection, electrical installations, mechanical works, and related engineering services. The company is currently expanding into import and export (international trading) operations.

Position: Deputy General Manager

Workplace: Addis Ababa

Employment Type: Permanent

Number Required: 1

Salary: Based on company scale

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the General Manager in planning, business expansion, and operational direction

  • Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the entire business

  • Provide leadership and oversight to Electromechanical SBU and Import & Export SBU

  • Oversee Finance, HR/Admin, Commercial, and Operations functions

  • Ensure effective governance, accountability, and internal control systems

  • Ensure organizational KPIs and performance targets are met

  • Strengthen policies, internal control, and process improvements

  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders (clients, suppliers, banks, government bodies)

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, procurement, and tax standards

  • Promote culture, discipline, accountability, and performance management

Job Requirements

Education

  • BA in Management or related fields; OR

  • MBA in Management / MSc in Accounting & Finance (preferred)

Experience

  • MBA/MSc: Minimum 8 years

  • BA Degree: Minimum 10 years

  • Proven experience managing construction, engineering, or electromechanical businesses

  • Experience overseeing import & export / international trading operations

  • Experience supervising multiple departments such as Finance, HR/Admin, Logistics, Commercial, and Operations

Desirable Qualities

  • Strong business acumen and decision-making skills

  • Ability to manage two major SBUs

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership capabilities

  • Experience in international trading business environments
