Job Description

The role focuses on strengthening the capacity of rural households and community groups/institutions to adopt sustainable agroecological practices and enhance climate resilience to improve productivity, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods. The successful candidate will work directly with households, members of women’s collectives, village development structures, traditional authorities, and government staff in the target kebeles. The position reports to the Project Officer, with the duty station at Kotoba field office, approximately fifty kilometers from Ginchi or Ambo towns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide training and on-farm technical support on agroecology, climate resilience, and good farming practices.

  • Promote nutrient-dense crops, agroforestry, conservation agriculture, and improved livestock feed and feeding practices.

  • Organize and coordinate learning events to facilitate adoption of agroecological practices at farm and village levels.

  • Facilitate access to essential start-up inputs such as seeds, agroforestry and fodder tree seedlings.

  • Guide women farmers across all stages of farming, including land and seedling preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting, and marketing.

  • Support monitoring and documentation of progress, lessons learned, and best practices to inform continuous learning and improvement.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in agriculture, agroecology, NRM, or related fields.

  • Minimum two years of experience in climate-smart agriculture, soil fertility, agroforestry fields.

  • Proficiency in English, Afaan Oromo, and Amharic both spoken and written.

  • Strong technical, facilitation, coaching, communication, and learning skills.

  • Ability to ride a motorcycle.

  • Willingness to reside in rural areas and carry out work from those locations.
