SORENIE IMPORT AND EXPORT PLC, an import and export company located in Addis Ababa is seeking to hire to hire qualified individuals for the following position.

The Motorist/Postman is responsible for the efficient and safe sorting, collection, and delivery of mail, parcels, and other correspondence to designated addresses along a set route. This role requires a combination of physical activity, excellent time management, safe driving practices, and outstanding customer service skills, often working in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mail Sorting and Preparation

• Sort and organize letters, packages, and registered mail for efficient delivery along a pre-determined route.

• Load and unload mailbags and parcels into the postal vehicle in a secure and logical order.

• Conduct thorough pre-duty checks of the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.

2. Delivery and Collection

• Drive or operate the delivery vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.

• Deliver mail and parcels to homes, businesses, and post boxes on schedule, often requiring a combination of driving and walking.

• Obtain necessary signatures for registered, certified, or cash-on-delivery (COD) items, accurately collecting and recording payments and charges.

• Collect mail from public mailboxes, post offices, and business collection points as required.

• Handle undeliverable, misaddressed, or redirected mail according to established postal procedures.

3. Customer Service and Administration

• Interact with customers in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner, addressing inquiries regarding delivery status or postal services.

• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and money collected, often utilizing a hand-held electronic device.

• Report any issues, incidents, accidents, or delivery delays to the supervisor immediately.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area and vehicle.

Job Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (or 10th/12th grade completion).

• Driving:

  • Possession of a valid, relevant class driving license motorcycle, light truck with a proven safe driving record.

  • Strong geographical knowledge of the designated service area or the ability to quickly learn new routes.
