Objectives &Expected Results: 

o Strengthen neonatal and pediatric health care services at Gambella General Hospital (GGH), Gambella Primary Hospital (GPH) and the 7 Woreda Health Centers in Gambella Town, Gambella Zuria and Abobo. 

o Improve the quality of pediatric and neonatal services at the GGH and GPH and the 7 Health Centers.

The overall purpose of the role is: 

o Improved the performance and quality of pediatric and neonatal services 

o Increased capacity of health personnel dedicated to pediatric services o Improved organisation, infrastructure and equipment in pediatrics' and neonatal wards.

Duties and Responsibilities

 o Contribute to the service quality improvement strategy implemented in the hospitals, in collaboration with the Management Teams 

o Supporting the training and capacity building activities of the GGH and GPH Pediatrics Departments and the 7 Health Center's 

o Coordinate the implementation of classroom training courses, including CEMONC, BeMONC, Pathological New-born Care, Nurturing Care, IPC in collaboration with the project's technical-clinical team; o Carrying out on-the-job training (with clinical case reviews) of staff dedicated to children's services

 o Improving the organisation of the work of the paediatrics department of the GGH and GPH, in collaboration with the Management Teams and the In charges of the respective hospitals, ensuring efficiency and quality of services

 o Support at the technical level the neonatal intensive care units of the two hospitals 

o Contributing to the mapping of available disability services and resources and the collection and analysis of neonatal and paediatric data, in collaboration with the M&E and clinical technical team

 o Contributing in collaboration with the technical-logistics team to the design of the infrastructural improvements of the NICU and the Paediatrics Department of the GPH. 

o Collaborate on improving and updating clinical protocols 

o Supervise project activities in collaboration with the CUAMM technical-clinical team.

o Any additional assignment, according to the position, given by the Project manager

Job Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree, specialization in paediatrics BSc in MD.

• Minimum of 2- 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience in pediatric practice.

• Any Certification in Compassionate approach to child healthcare and strong communication skills with children and families.

• Mentor junior medical staff and nursing students rotating through pediatrics. 

• Continuously update knowledge on pediatric advancements and best practices. 

• Educate parents and caregivers on child health, disease prevention, and treatment adherence.

• Having valid professional license by the regulatory body.
