Main Job purpose


The credit Controller position is accountable for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the credit worthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad dept losses.


Job Summary

  • Regular liaison between the credit controller and sales department so that credit issues are resolved smoothly.
  • Checking customer's credit situation and deciding whether to offer the credit.
  • Setting up the terms and conditions of the receivable and payable balances.
  • Dealing with internal queries about payments, ensuring customers pay on time and negotiating re-payment plans.
  • Assist in the setting up of the credit control system and ensure that debts are paid in a timely manner.
  • Meet cash & debtor day targets set by the company.
  • Chase overdue invoices by telephone, email & letter within agreed timescales and maintain accurate records of all chasing activity.
  • Regularly contacting customers to ensure all relevant debts are managed as necessary.
  • Identify changes in payment patterns and propose action to avert indebtedness.
  • Ensure that all transactions are compliant with Company's credit policies and ERCA regulations.
  • Handle disputed bills and negotiate to bring payment within the agreed terms.
  • Respond promptly and completely to both client and internal enquires .
  • Propose write off of irrecoverable receivables.
  • Providing ad-hoc reporting as and when requested by management.
  • Undertake account reconciliations as required and ensure monthly account reconciliation signed off.
  • Send out monthly client statements/letters as may be agreed from time to time.
  •  Develop the credit management capability within the practice.
  •  If any customers stop paying or pay late then making sure right actions right as per policy incl stopping supply, start legal action to collect the money owed (if necessary) and in the case of bankruptcy it is required to report to higher management about the strategies to make sure recovery as possible.
  • Expected to regularly review the company's debt recovery procedures as per IFRS 9.
  • Driving simplification process in Credit Control area.

 

Job Requirements

  • Excellent and strong business communication and business partnering skill to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • You'll need to be firm and organized to work in credit control.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • A good head for numbers. 
  • Strong Analytical and Advanced Excel skill incl PPT presentation skill.
  • Sound decision-making and Good business judgment.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the same field
  • SAP and ERP experience will be advantageous
