Awash Wine SC. Established in 1936 Awash is proud to be Ethiopia’s oldest winemaker. With over 80 years serving the local and international market, we are one of the country’s most beloved brands. The company was acquired in September 2013 through a local and international partnership. Our international staff, with a combined 82 years of experience in the beverage industry, collaborates with 652 local employees at our two production facilities in Addis Ababa and our vineyard in Merti Jeju, Upper Awash. This local-foreign partnership means we combine international know-how with a deep knowledge of Ethiopia’s dynamic and exciting market.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB                                                               

  • To drive and facilitate profitable growth of the Awash wine Brand (or Brands) attributed to the role.
  • Development of long-term strategy and short-term brand plan implementation (full marketing-mix) for that brand (s).
  • To identify & explore new growth initiatives & synergies for those brands.
  • Ensure that marketing resources are used efficiently and in a profitable way.
  • To lead and develop best-practice marketing tools within Awash seeking strategic and efficiency improvement specifically within Brand & Advertising management

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Focus

  • Formulate and develop brand marketing plans (ATL / BTL - in coordination with Trade Marketing, Activation and Channel Management) to reach the targeted consumer and brand positioning (360° brand activities).
  • Define the brand marketing mix strategy (pricing, packaging, channel merchandising, advertising, and promotion).
  • Align brand growth and marketing plans to company strategic plans.

Management Focus

  • Identify and develop brand marketing ideas / initiatives
  • Conceptualization, production, and enforcement of the brand visual identity
  • Deliver the brand’s profit, volume, and market share objectives
  • Coordinate brand management projects with internal and external resources
  • Create, execute, record, and evaluate ATL and BTL campaigns
  • Analyze sales data and brand research results and compare with established brand objectives to ensure effectiveness of brand marketing plan. If necessary, propose corrective actions
  • Cooperate with Trade Marketing and Sales Channel Management to drive efficient and relevant brand exposure at POS
  • Understand competitor brand strategies / activities and build winning counter strategies for Awash’s brands.
  • Manage brand commercial information, including profitability
  • Coordinate and monitor new product / brand packaging developments
  • Communicate brand plan to the Management Team
  • Develop the brand budget. In coordination with Channel Marketing manager, allocate the brand BTL budget
  • Control and monitor the brand ATL & BTL budget
  • Manage and develop employees as per company standards, processes, and procedures

Administrative Focus

  •  Report adequately on brand activities, health indicators and positioning
  • Report on competitive brand activities

Job Requirements

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE

 1.   Education

 Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, plus a professional qualification in Sales or Marketing.
  • High level of planning and organizing competencies
  • High level of commercial and business understanding
  • Not less than three (3) years FMCG or Marketing Agency experience

 Language skills:

  • English, Amharic
