In Ethiopia, since 2008, Holt has reached thousands of orphaned, vulnerable and abandoned children and families at risk of separation and in socio-economic crises through implementing family strengthening, maternal child health and nutrition, education program and supporting institutional care and support through like-minded local partner organizations. 

Job Summary

The primary roles of the Program Coordinator is to technically support local partner organizations on the implementation of Holt-funded maternal and child health and nutrition program, identifies gaps and leads capacity strengthening activities for health professionals, coordinates program designing, planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting against the approved operation plan.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Development

  • Prepares detailed operation  plan and budget for maternal and child health and nutrition program;
  • Ensures implementation of planned activities adhering to detail operational plan;
  • Coordinates Holt-funded institutional-based and community out-reach MCH&N interventions;
  • Leads and coordinates with local partner organizations potential  concept notes and annual program development proposals for maternal and child health and nutrition interventions;
  • Strategically coordinates the implementation of  Holt-funded Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition program with implementing partners;
  • Provides on job technical, monitoring and coaching support to implementing partner organizations on the implementation of Holt-funded  Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition programs;
  • Assesses training needs and provides  on job capacity strengthening trainings to medical staff, health professionals and relevant stakeholders;
  • Technically supports implementing partner organizations on program designing and proposal development, detail activity planning and implementation;
  • Strengthens collaborations and representational roles  with Holt’s like-minded partner organizations, relevant government entities and stakeholders at different levels;
  • Closely coordinates Holt-funded institutional and community-based maternal, child health and nutrition interventions in collaboration with partner organizations and health professionals,
  • Coordinates and facilitates Holt-initiated annual medical campaigns;
  • Facilitates the development/adaptation/scaling up of Holt-initiated Child Health and Nutrition training and community education manuals;
  • Ensures Holt-funded maternal, child health and nutrition interventions are implemented as per the defined quality standard for the services;

 Program Monitoring and Reporting

  • Ensures that Holt-funded MCH&N program is properly planned, implemented, monitored, evaluated and reported as per the agreed operational plan and MoU signed off between Holt and implementing partner organizations.
  • Conducts periodic field visits and program implementation reviews as agreed in the operational plan;
  • Ensures appropriate follow up with the implementation of defined quality standards for Holt-funded MCH&N services;
  • Coordinates and facilitates annual program review meeting, conferences, forums, campaigns and events;
  • Coordinates periodic surveys and child health and nutrition status screening/monitoring;
  • Ensures that donor compliances( reports and related communications) are timely addressed as per the agreed schedules;
  • Timely investigates internal and external challenges against program implementation and seeks for solution;
  • In collaboration with M&E staff, ensures that periodic reports(monthly, quarter and annual) are timely received from local partner organizations;
  • Prepares and provides regular program progress reports;
  • Coordinates collection and dissemination of program success stories, lesson learned  and best practices;







Place of Work:

  • Addis Ababa-with frequent travel to program operation area


Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Master’s degree or equivalent field in Public Health, Health Service Management, Health Monitoring and Evaluation from recognized higher institution/university;
  • 5 years of experience in related field with 3 years of experience in NGOs;
  • Experiences in USAID-funded projects;
  • Proven experience in working with different, cultures and diversities;
  • Experience in leading and facilitating training,  review meetings and workshops;
  • Experience in writing / developing project proposals including implementation reports;
  • Proven skills in Health Data Management System;
  • Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English;
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Office, and other computer applications
  • Strong program knowledge and organizational skills;
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural areas where the project is implemented;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Ethiopia Health Systems and quality standards;
