Established in 2011 as a UK based non-profit, the Foundation has already carried out more than 30 projects, primarily in Ethiopia and Somaliland. The key themes for the philanthropic side of the Foundation are education, health, water and agriculture.  Social enterprises cover all areas where the Foundation feels an effective impact can be made with the aim of sustainability and job creation.

Headquartered in London, the Foundation also has an operational HQ in Nairobi and offices in, Addis Ababa, Assosa and Hargeisa.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Education coordinator is accountable for the direction, oversight and management of all education related activities in BGRS. He/she has key responsibility in generating/developing the program concept, designing projects and implementing education related projects in the program areas of the Foundation. The position holder is expected to discharge the following key responsibilities: 

Program/Project planning and design

  • Undertake needs assessment and thorough investigation of education related problems in the Foundation’s program areas and make suggestions for intervention
  • Undertake studies and evaluation as need to improve quality of programme
  • Network with all relevant government and other stake holders to learn regional and national priorities in education and to align the foundation’s interventions accordingly
  • Solicit education related policies, standards and procedures of the country and inform Pharo schools/training centres to help them comply with the rule of the country  
  • Serve as the Foundation’s resource person in education related information 

Coordination and Implementation

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of education program activities.
  • Monitor the implementation education program activities and take corrective actions as deemed necessary.
  • Be responsible for the education related budget including its estimation as well as timely utilization.
  • Conduct study/research/evaluations on issues that would help the Foundation improve the way it is running its schools.
  • Supervise and ensure timely implementation of activities as per the quality standard    
  • Prepare project related documentations such as periodic progress reports (internal and government), field monitoring reports, stakeholder meeting minutes etc as required  
  • Provide bi-monthly project progress report to the Head of Programme
  • Carry out any other duty as requested by the immediate supervisor

  • Assosa with frequent travel to Menge, Homosha and other places with in BGRS

Job Requirements

Education

  • A Master’s/ Advanced/ degree in Education or Education Administration or related field is required.
  • A combination of bachelor’s degree with additional 3 years of relevant work experience (10 years in total) may be accepted in lieu of the education requirements outlined above

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience related to project requirements in education planning and management or any role at advisory and coordination level at an international organization level is required.
  • Experience in project design and management in the context of international organizations level is necessary.
  • Experience in setting up and implementation of ECD, TVET, literacy and other skill upgrading training centres
  • Prior involvement in a set up that required sectoral integration

Language Requirements and other skills

  • Full working knowledge of English and Amharic with good verbal and written communication skills is essential.
