First Consult is a consulting firm in Ethiopia specializing in delivering effective and business-oriented solutions for development, business, strategy, human resources, finance and investment problems and needs of its clients.

First Consult and DAI have been implementing programmes supporting the industrialization development for the past 7 years such as Enterprise Partners and recently launched a new 5-year programme – BRIDGES, funded by the Mastercard Foundation, to support the country’s job creation effort mainly for women and youth.

Accordingly, First Consult is currently seeking to hire the following personnel for the BRIDGES programme:

JOB SUMMARY

The Intervention Manager  will coordinate and oversee the day-to-day implementation of the business development services (BDS)  and facilitate market linkages for its BRIDGES Programme.  The Intervention Manager (IM) will be responsible to identify and analyze selected markets, to spot business opportunities and work with businesses that could have a genuine interest to serve those markets. The Intervention Manager will need to understand the ‘big picture’ of the economy to determine what constraints companies and develop bankable and sustainable solutions that raise incomes and creates jobs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Analysis and problem-solving: Gather data and information, either primary or secondary, to understand and diagnose opportunities and constraints for SMEs, and monitor new developments in the sector and identify possible opportunities and threats
  • Reporting and presentation: Prepare and present market strategies and intervention plans internally. Pitch opportunities to businesses externally
  • Project and results management: Working with the identified intervention partners, facilitate and track implementation to assess and communicate results for further decision-making and investment
  • Identify and provide necessary training on relevant issues of the target sector
  • Perform other tasks as required

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelors degree; MBA (in Economics, Finance, Management or other related fields) is an advantage
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience; preferably in the business-related or private sector development setting
  • Entrepreneurial or business-risk taking experience is highly desired
  • Strong command of English and Amharic languages
  • Competency in MS Office
