Background
The Life & Peace Institute (LPI) is an international centre that supports and promotes nonviolent
approaches to conflict transformation through a combination of research and action that entails the strengthening of existing local capacities and enhancing the preconditions for building peace. LPI envisions a world where peace, justice and non-violent relations prevail through people’s active work and commitment. LPI works with a variety of partners in the Horn of Africa region, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia and the Great Lakes region, particularly the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Life and Peace Institute is the leading international organization to advance peaceful means of conflict transformation, encourage transformative and inclusive peace through research, practices and policy advocacy. As the “the peace building actor”, LPI acts in partnership with national, regional and local peace building and conflict transformation communities. LPI Ethiopia’s work programme thematic areas includes:
· Conflict sensitive land administration
· Sustained dialogue with public universities
· Evidence based policy advocacy
· Vibrant civil society development
· Listening tour for inclusive and transformative peace
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Ethiopia programme manager, and in coordination with relevant units at the Regional Office for Horn of Africa (HARP), the programme assistant will be responsible to support the overall planning, budgeting, preparation, design and implementation of programme activities.
