Job Description

The Position: The International Potato Center – Ethiopia (CIP) seeks to recruit Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist, Research Officer/ Agronomist and Driver positions for the DFID-funded Development and Delivery of Biofortified Crops at Scale (DDBIO) project. General: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweetpotato and Andean roots and tubers. Job Requirements

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives office vehicles in CIP projects areas (mainly eastern Ethiopia) for the transport of authorized personnel and other items as required, strictly observing rules and regulations, demonstrating an exemplary driving practice;
  • Logs all trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and keeps the logbook up to date;
  • Receives and takes visitors to and from the airport, assisting with any formalities and taking them to and from places of resident;
  • Responsible for all tools, equipment and spare parts on the vehicle assigned to him/her;
  • Checks the mechanical status of the assigned vehicles on a day to day basis. Wash and clean regularly, undertakes minor repairs and report immediately major repair to be carried out;
  • Ensures timely servicing to the vehicle as and when necessary and make sure that the vehicle is roadworthy;
  • Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in any vehicle accident and promptly report them to the supervisor;
  • Takes the responsibly for fueling assigned vehicles through the immediate supervisor;
  • Prepares a monthly summary of oil and fuel consumption and report to supervisor;
  • Performs any other function as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Complete/Preparatory Certificate

Skills: 

  • Valid driving license
  • Knowledge of auto mechanics is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, including inter-personal relationships
  • Good working knowledge of written and spoken English is essential
  • Field trip experience in different parts of Ethiopia
  • Good knowledge of Ethiopian roads and locations of Government offices and NGOs

Experience:

  • One years of practical driving experience preferably in an international organization
  • Good knowledge of Ethiopian roads and locations of Government offices and NGOs

Duty Station: Haramaya, Eastern Ethiopia

Job Grade: HG 8

Monthly Base Salary: Birr 7,500 (Negotiable depending on salary history of the candidate)
