Summary Scope of Work:

Ethiopia in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and regional health bureaus is implementing the Enhancing Nutrition and Antenatal Infection Treatment for Maternal and Child health (ENAT) project in four regions, namely, SNNP, Oromia, Amhara and Tigray. The project, which is jointly funded by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and ELMA Philanthropy, aims to reduce the outcomes of preterm birth and low birth weight by strengthening antenatal care (ANC). The investment will develop an integrated and improved package of ANC which includes early identification, treatment and management of maternal infections and tracking of positive cases for completion of treatment; as well as improving demand for ANC.
Under the guidance of the Project Director, the Community Engagement /SBCC Adviser will be responsible to provide technical leadership in guidance to the community engagement, community mobilization and social behavior change communication related work of the ENAT project. S/he will provide guidance and technical inputs to SBCC and Community Engagement /Mobilization strategies that align with and support existing and new initiative of the government, and that can be easily replicable and scalable. S/he will provide state-of-the-art technical support to the design, refinement, implementation and monitoring of Community Engagement /SBCC strategy drawing from existing government approaches and implementation experiences of national MNCH projects. S/he will be responsible to the development of impactful, culturally sensitive and cost effective SBCC messages and materials based on local evidence.
The position holder will represent ENAT and Jhpiego at different Community Engagement /SBCC meetings at national and sub-national levels; and at times at international fora.
