This position is a LES (Locally Engaged Staff) position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in Ethiopia.

Summary of position:

Under the direct supervision of the Material Assistant, the Inventory Clerk is responsible for the inventory management, custody and control of all materials for the operation of the Embassy, including office supplies, cleaning supplies, hospitality kits, pack-up kits, furniture, appliances, tools, equipment and parts and other; Assisting in the material procurement and Performing other duties.

 

Essential qualifications:

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• High school diploma or diploma from a recognized institution

Language:
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Fluency in Amharic (written and spoken).

Experience:
• At least 2 years Recent* experience in dealing with the public / client services.
• At least 2 years Recent* experience in working in a general office environment and following standard office procedures.

  • Recent is defined as within the last 5 years

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of general administrative practices and procedures;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook Mail);
• Knowledge of material procurement and material management.

Abilities/Competencies:
• Ability to coordinate conflicting priorities within tight deadlines and meet work targets;
• Organizational skills and attention to detail;

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Previous experience working in a diplomatic mission, in a Canadian Government or Public Sector Environment or in an international environment;
• Experience in customer service
• Documented organizational and time management skills to prioritize workloads;
• Documented experience of quality control and follow-up of projects
• Fluency in Canada’s other official language (French).

Operational Requirements:

  • Hours of work: Monday to Thursday, 08h to 17h (8.25 hours per day), Friday 08h to 12h30, 4.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week).

 

Condition(s) of Employment:
