Duration: One Year (with possibility of extension based on performance)
Duty Station: Gursum Woreda, Fafan Zone based in Jigjiga, Somali Region with frequent travel
ResponsibilitiesThe person will
- Design and implement inclusive Income Generating Activities, including individual and group activities.
- Establish inclusive IGA groups for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and include them into existing IGA structures.
- Provide technical guidance, on the job training, coaching and mentoring to Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Community workers on targeting beneficiaries, IGA group formation and supporting IGA groups, community mobilization, inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the project activities, etc.
- Build the administrative and technical capacity of Disabled People's Organizations through training and technical follow up.
- Establish, train and support CBR committees in the targeted communities about socioeconomic inclusion activities and follow up.
- Support youth clubs for youth with and without Person with Disabilities to ensure inclusion in existing programs or new programs.
- Provides training to government employees on disability and gender mainstreaming and inclusive services.
- Organize awareness raising campaigns in collaboration with BoLSA and Disabled Peoples Organizations (DPOs) about social inclusion of PwDs in the communities, government sector offices and NGOs operating in the project area
- Participate in the recruitment of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Community workers.
- Take part in organizing and facilitating regular partners forum/network meeting with the Project manager
Job Requirements
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Economics, or other related field.
Experience:
· At least 3 years work experience on community social integration and economic capacity building in NGO environment.
· Experience in community group formation, training and follow-up,
· Experience on disability is an added value,
· Experience of working with multi-cultural teams,
Competencies/Knowledge, Ability and Skill:
· Excellent knowledge of community based rehabilitation project implementation and basic principles.
· Good knowledge of socio-economic integration of marginalized communities.
· Excellent knowledge of community mobilization.
· Excellent knowledge of basic facilitation skills.
· Ability to manage grass-root level staff and give technical support.
· Strong team player
· Strong coordination, collaboration and organizational skills
· Good coaching capacities
· Good capacities to transfer knowledge in difficult cultural & political contexts
· Good level of writing/reading English
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Knowledge of local languages (Somali) is mandatory.
· Ability to work under pressure
· Proven problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
· Respectful and compliant with organizational rules and procedures
Personal Qualities
· Patient· Tasks and result oriented
· Field work oriented, flexible, diplomatic.· Able to work in remote location, willing to work in Gursum Woreda, Fafan zone of Somali region.
· Able to live in basic conditions
