Program Overview

“Promoting Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Service in the Arsi Zone of the Oromia Region, Ethiopia”  is  KOICA funded  MNCH project aimed at contributing the national initiatives towards  ending preventable maternal, neonatal and childhood deaths by supporting the Oromia regional health bureau   in five woredas of Arsi zone (Dodota, Hetosa, L/Hetosa,  Tiyo, Ziway Dugda)  to ensure equity and quality maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent and youth health services to tackle    the critical barriers and bottleneck in addressing the three delay models for maternal health. 

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Provide technical support to the public sectors in Family planning, Adolescent, maternal, neonatal and child health issues

·       Frequently travels to target sites/health facilities and Provides on job technical support and to enhance on Job skill transfer.

·       Works closely with the intra-organizational programs and teams as s/he travels to the project sites in the woreda to provide or organize the implementation of planned RMNCAH/N activities.

·       Closely work with the FP-AYSRH and MNCH program officers.

·       Facilitate material and technical support at the grass-root level

·       Identify and deal with a potential bottleneck at service delivery and community level activities  

·       Conducts and assists RMNCAH and gender-related training  

·       Actively participate in success and best practice documentation process

·       Develops quality and timely reports and submits to immediate supervisor.

·       Closely follow and support the YFS/ youth-friendly services and peer educators’ activities in all health centers 

·       Work closely and smoothly with public sector and GNE project staff 

·       Undertakes other tasks assigned by his /her supervisor.

Job Requirements

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or related fields.

·       Minimum of three years of experience in RMNCH-N and Adolescent and youth-related activities. 

·       Experience in practical fieldwork and experience in NGO will be an advantage.

·       Must demonstrate gender responsiveness in all assigned tasks and responsibilities

·       Must have strong writing and communication skills in English, Oromifaa and Amharic languages

·       Skills and experience in computer applications and utilization is mandatory.

·       Must be able to work with minimum supervision and have strong interpersonal skills and skills to promote teamwork.

·       Must demonstrate strong interest and commitment to family planning and maternal and child health services and the eradication of harmful traditional practices.

·       Must have demonstrable personal integrity and honesty and must have a pleasant personality.

·       Must have a demonstrable practical problem-solving skills

Must be willing to travel frequently to project activity regions and woredas as per need.
