ROLE PURPOSE:

The jobholder will be primarily responsible to implement the program activities at the community level and provides continues support for unemployed youth with a particular focus on young women. S/he will be responsible to support program planning and coordination in regional program activities and also ensures active involvement of communication with the communities and partners for smooth and successful implementation of program components as per approved program document; and government and donor requirements and standard



KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Carry out other duties as requested by the regional manager
  • Represent the program and delivery of community awareness, YES center promotion and women empowerment activities, under the respective Kebele with the support from the Regional program manager.
    • Facilitate and coordinate the components of youth workforce development activities, like facilitate training, coach and mentor the target youth.
    • Follow up on the progress of each program activity and provide the appropriate support for targeted youth.
    • Facilitate the active participation and building of trust with communities and other stakeholders and work closely with YES centers, TVETs, youth associations, private sectors, FTCs or PTCs, Youth-focused government organizations, training institutes and etc.
    • Spearhead the mobilization of all stakeholders and follow up routine tasks of the program implementation at the site level as required by the Woreda program officer.
    • Ensure the regular program component data collection and reporting is on time.
    • Coach and record participant personal development plan (PDP) progress
    • Organize workshops and training under the direction of the regional manager.
    • Ensure regular communication between REST and communities. 
    • Work closely with Woreda Women, Children and Youth Affair Offices/other partners.
    • Be part of the planning team of the POTENTIAL program staff at Woreda level.
    • Develop monthly activity plans and reports in close consultation with the Regional Manager.
    • Be the translator of local languages for other program staff, consultants and visitors.
    • Accurately express SC position, objectives and policies

    Job Requirements

    Essential: 

    • Year of service (0-3 years)
    • Bachelor degree in field (s) such as sociology, Community development, and adult education, rural development, business Education, Business, developmental psychology, economics, commerce, and related courses
    • Age 21-25
    • Speaks the local language fluently.
    • Excellent understanding of the culture and ways of living in target communities.
    • Good written and spoken English.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and excellent awareness about communities, government structure and etc.
    • Good report writing skills; able to collect the document and share records and information.
    • Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural Kebeles where the program is implemented, within approved security frameworks.
    • Basic computer skills and mobile literacy are desirable.
    • Experiences of working in NGOs; and communities at the grass-root level are advantageous
    • Experiences in volunteering, community service and passion for development work are advantageous.

    Desirable

    • Experience of working with community mobilization, youth centers, Women empowerment, training facilitation, Coaching, and Mentoring youth. Work experience in productive areas and knowledge of local culture is advantageous
