Who we are: Grarbet Tehadiso Mahber (GTM) is an indigenous non-profit and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to improve lives of rural communities in rural central Ethiopia. It was established in 1996 and legally registered with the Charity and Civil Society Agency (Charity Registration Number 0277). GTM provides rehabilitation and medical services to people with visual impairment, hard of hearing, post-polio paralysis and epilepsy care and treatment in the SNNP and Oromia regions using its two specialized centers in Butajira and Batu/Zeway.

What we are looking for: A motivated and result oriented finance manager who can ensure excellence in the maintenance, control, management and reporting of financial information of our organization. The finance manager is expected to carry out routine monitoring for accurate recording of financial transactions and timely preparation of high-quality financial reports to the regulatory bodies and our donors. Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, priorities and procedures related to financial management and accounting.
  • Maintain sound financial systems and policies in line with the accepted accounting and financial management standards of the country.
  • Supervise the preparation of monthly tax filing and declaration including all supporting schedules and reconciled trial balances.
  • Ensure timely submission of all statutory reports.
  • Ensure all accounting entries and financial reports comply with donors’ requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Prepare annual financial reports for the management and external auditors and manage the audit process
  • Participate in the management decision making process representing the unit

Terms of employment

  •  Initial contract will be for one year with a high possibility of renewal

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • A university degree in Accounting and Finance with five years of demonstrated experience out of which two is at managerial level
  • Certification in implementation of IPSAS is a plus
  • Proficiency in English; both written and verbal communication
  • Excellent command of MS office applications and use of computerized accounting packages particularly Peachtree
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team and also independently
  • Ability to work independently
  • Leverage limited resources and staff for maximum impact
  • Proficient in MS Office application
  • Experience working with NGOs and knowledge of project management would be an asset
