THE JOB

Position Overview:

Historically, Splash has contracted freelancer surveyors to assist the WASH infrastructure team interventions at school sites in Addis Ababa. With the launch of Project WISE (WASH in Schools for Everyone), surveying needs have increased to the point where Splash needs a full-time Senior Surveying Officer. In close coordination with the Splash Infrastructure Team, the Senior Surveying Officer will carry out all water supply and sanitation surveying activities in Addis sites, including quantity, boundary, topography, profile, and construction surveys. This team member will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of the rental and/or purchasing and Calibrating survey equipment, data collection, taking field notes, Analysis, and plotting or drafting.

 Specific responsibilities will include:

• Perform all water supply and Sanitation field surveys at Splash sites using Total Stations, Theodolite, dump leveling, GPS receivers
• Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists, AutoCAD drawings, and digital data in required formats.
• Perform quantity, boundary, topography, and construction surveys.
• Work with field and office personnel to produce site surveys and other essential project documents.
• Work with Procurement Coordinator to develop plan for purchasing and/or rental of key surveying equipment.
• Coordinate with surveying equipment vendors as needed.
• Work with team members to complete additional duties as needed.

 Reports To:

• Splash’s Water Infrastructure Manager in Addis Ababa

Compensation and Benefits:

• Annual salary for this position will be established at time of hire and will be reviewed at least annually.

Required Experience:

• First degree in Engineering Surveying/Civil Engineering with five years of field survey experience or diploma/vocational training certificate above five years. Field survey experience should include quantity surveying and construction supervision.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Strong work ethic and accountability
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Proficient in AutoCAD

Preferred Experience:

• Field survey experience specific to Urban/ Rural water supply or Irrigation projects
• Experience with GPS processing
