Summary Statement of Responsibilities:

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Intern will be part of the MEAL team which is supporting the country office and field office staff, across all sectors. The MEAL Intern will be responsible for supporting the MEAL team in ensuring quality data from the field and sector teams and documentation in our cloud based system (Box). IRC receives data from our seven field offices and across seven sectors which needs to be systematically collected, reported and analyzed in order to provide management information.

This position is based in Addis Ababa but might include occasional trips to field sites and refugee camps. The person in this position will report to and collaborate with the Accountability and Learning Coordinator, as well as the Senior MEAL Manager, both based in Addis Ababa.

 

Basic Responsibilities:

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  •  Review project based monthly Indicator Trackers and provide feedback to MEAL staff based in the Field Offices as well as sector based MEAL staff in Addis Ababa
  •  Support MEAL Team in keeping an up-to-date Indicator Tracker Overview
  • Support Field Offices in providing project documents on Box and keep the folders up-to-date
  • Support MEAL Team and project teams in providing up-to-date dashboards for all projects, sectors, and locations
  • Support MEAL Team in creating a quarterly beneficiary count, disaggregated by sector and location
  • Support MEAL Team in the design and review of surveys, by using digital data collection applications such as Kobo Toolbox and CommCare
  • Support MEAL Team in managing the digital devices available for data collection
  • Participates in and supports Project Opening Meetings, Project Implementation Meetings and Project Closing Meetings

 

Learning and Documentation:

  • Support MEAL Team in managing and updating the internal learning database, including learning from all monitoring, evaluations, studies, learning exercises, project review and closing meetings.

 

Representation and Special Tasks:

  • Support MEAL team as needed to ensure all deadlines are met on time and that all products are of high quality.
  • At the request of the A&L Coordinator, take responsibility for miscellaneous projects not falling under responsibility underlined in this job description.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent Amharic and English writing and speaking skills are mandatory and are the most important requirement for this position
  • Fresh graduates
  • Bachelor degree from a recognized university
  • Computer literate, especially MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Box.
  • Being an expert in Excel and creating dashboards is a plus, especially in Power BI.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
