FEWS NET Ethiopia Food Security Specialist- Enumerator and Monitor Coordinator (FSS-EMC) Advertisement

The Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) is an integrated set of activities funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) intended to provide timely, accurate, evidence-based, and transparent food security early warning information and analysis. FEWS NET’s work is implemented across several pillars by a team of partners that includes Chemonics International (Chemonics). Chemonics implements FEWS NET’s integrated emergency food insecurity analysis through a Washington-based technical office and more than 20 field offices.

Chemonics seeks applications from qualified and experienced professionals to fill one full-time Food Security Specialist – Enumerator and Monitor Coordinator (FSS-EMC) position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The FSS- EMC will also assist the DCR (Deputy Country Representative) and CR (Country Representative) to provide quality control for market monitoring in Ethiopia and will help ensure that activities and products are delivered in a timely manner.

Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications for the Ethiopia FSS-FMC position include:

  • Fluency in English language and written communication. Fluency and/or proficiency in one or more local languages is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a discipline directly relevant to FEWS NET’s work or provides central skills in food security analysis, including economics, agricultural economics, agronomy, statistics (required). Master’s degree desirable.
  • At least 5 years of proven and relevant work experience in the food security space (3 years required for candidates possessing a master’s degree or higher). Past experience supervising primary data collectors and experience of working with the NGO community/Un agencies is highly desirable. Past experience providing training and guidance is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to interact positively with various food security stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with remote colleagues;
