Summary Statement of Responsibilities:

Under the direct line management of the field coordinator, Community Well-being Initiative (CWI) coordinator and the Child and Youth Protection and Development (CYPD) coordinator, the Manager will provide program technical and operational support to the emergency gender based violence (GBV)/child protection response in the Gedeo Zone. The Manager mentor, supervises, coordinate and handle the CWI/CP team and lead all aspects of the plan activities in a professional manner. She/he will demonstrate technical capability and support the program team to ensure the program is holistic, upholding according to standards, procedures and principles of safeguarding and improve the coordination of basic services and ensure accessibility of services such as SHLS, case management.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Will be responsible for the team including day to day management (resolving where and when to go).
• Provide technical assistance to the department to initiate the emergency project undertakings in targeted woredas in Gedeo Zone.
• Conduct regular field visit to targeted IDP sites and initiate discussions with the significant government actors and community leaders on the selection criteria of beneficiaries and strategies for distribution.
• Conduct needs assessment and or consult with women and children to settle their most urgent needs and identify whether we may be able to meet these needs.
• Monitor the overall start-up of GBV and CP project activities and conduct regular monitoring to ensure project activities are implemented timely and efficiently.
• Support the overall budget management including budget planning and budget utilization.
• Actively participate in protection coordination meetings and raise protection concerns of the vulnerable at the field level.
• Participate in the write-up of the project report and post-distribution assessments.
• Ensure a well- coordinated and complete approach to address issues concerning vulnerable and at risk children including Unaccompanied / Separated children living in the IDP sites.
• In collaboration with other members of the team hold community awareness raising campaigns and trainings on child protection and GBV concerns
• Support the CP /GBV team in ensuring the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for advocacy, effective Child Protection GBV program design, implementation, lesson learnt, monitoring and evaluation.
• Any other duties and responsibilities including field visits to other field offices that can be given by immediate and technical supervisors.

Job Requirements

• MA/MSc or equivalent in psychology, Social Science, Humanities or other related social science field of study/ BA with significant psychosocial support and counseling experience and training considered.
• 5 years of professional work experience for first degree (BA) and 4 years for plus post graduates(MA).
• 1 Year of management experience is mandatory.
• Previous experience in project and grant management in conflict or post conflict situations preferred.
• Validated experience in capacity building and mentoring.
• Detailed understanding of women and children wellbeing and safety theory and practice.
• Proven experience in developing competency-based training modules.
• Shown leadership, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Confirmed experience in writing skills, including donor reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills and flexibility.
• Strong written and oral English skills required.
• Excellent computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• verbal language skills in English and Amharic is helpful.
