Internship Announcement

Inviting applicants for the position of ICT Intern based in Addis Ababa.

Background

As a registered charity, founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger operates in 45+ countries. The international network of Action Against Hunger is represented in France, United Kingdom, Spain, Canada, USA and India. Teams in the field combat hunger on 04 fronts: Nutrition and Health, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Water, Sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and Mental Health and Psycho-social Support (MHPSS).

OBJECTIVE OF THE INTERNSHIP

The ICT Intern is responsible for providing daily maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and support of Action Against Hunger’s printers, laptops, PC’s, and Network attached storage, LAN and Satellite communication devices. The Information Systems Intern will provide direct service and support to Action Against Hunger end users. Additionally, Asset registration, and scanning/document management will be a core portion of the Information Systems Intern duties.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide direct support for technology end users.

Assist and provide support for new IS deployments, upgrade or support of new or existing software per the direction of the Information Technology Manager.

Perform daily monitoring and logging tasks as related to Network Attached storage's, PC, antivirus, and software update policies, Satellite communication devices and re-mediate as directed by the Information Technology Manager.

Collaborate with various departments on their file scanning and document management imports.

Help the IT Team in coordination office to document all systems configurations, and all relevant passwords and system access requirements.

Assist the IT Team in coordination office on data backup and schedule preventive maintenance tasks as needed.

Support staff on login issues, repair and maintenance software, and laptop problems.

Assist end users to troubleshoot and resolve issues with network copiers and printers, as well as stand-alone devices

Participate in Asset management and regular training activities.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Degree in IT, computer science or related field from a recognized university with zero year of relevant experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Good communication skills - Organisational skills - Adaptability - Pedagogical approach - Rigour - Good level of spoken and written English - Flexibility and patience Good knowledge of the Windows operating environment (Windows 7, W10) and Microsoft Office ( 2010, 2016) Good knowledge of IT and Network equipment and repairing technical IT problems - knowledge of networks and wireless technologies. Knowledge of system and network security. Applicants with disabilities and female candidates are encouraged. Local language proficiency is mandatory.
