Job Description

The Agricultural Officer shall:

·  Provide necessary orientation about land preparation and application of seeds and     coaching including practical demonstrations on sustainable farming techniques    such as proper spacing, inter cropping, and crop rotation. 

. Organize farmers seed multiplication groups (improved and local varieties) 

.  Support farmers to retain and store seeds from the harvest for planting during the     next growing season

. Play a role in selection of vulnerable community members and project priority             groups for farming practices;

.  Promote climate resilient agricultural practices 

.  Play a roll in organizing and conducting capacity building activities on farming     practices with focus to promotion of land races.

.  Play a roll in organizing farmers for climate risk transfer (crop micro-insurance) as part of mitigation activities;

.  Develop linkages between input suppliers, output markets and the LWF

.  Prepare and submit periodic reports in time to the Team Leader 

.  Work closely with officers to provide agricultural  support as requested

.  Perform any other duties as assigned  by the Team Leader      


Job Requirements

Minimum of Bachelors’ or Masters degree in agriculture, agronomy, agriculture economics or other relevant field. 

Required Experience:

Minimum of 3 years related work Experience for Bachelor Degree and 1 year for Masters Degree preferably in climate resilient agricultural sectors

 Additional Requirement:

.  Strong interpersonal and communication skill

·  NGO Experience is advantageous
