Job Description
Specifice duties and responsibilities;
- Lead the overall project planning, implementation and M&E of the above mentioned project;
- Lead the development and submission of annual procurement, activity and budget plans for the project;
- Lead the project team in reviewing progress and results, identify gaps and solutions and share technical ideas for the project staff;
- Support the project officers with technical and management inputs relating to project activity plan, implementation, budget management and reporting
- Lead the process of selection of vulnerable community members and project priority groups for climate change adaptation, mitigation and response actions;
- Select vulnerable communities and project priority groups jointly with the area coordinator, project staff, local government and target community represenatives for climate and disaster vulnerability analysis and disaster management actions;
- Organize and conduct capacity development activities on climate change adaptation, mitigation, micro-insurance, resilience and related issues;
- Together with the area coordinator, facilitate regional and local level dialogues on climate issues, and identify issues and engage in advocacy works
- Identify potential partners such as research organizations, academia, midia, etc to work with on climate change solutions and engage with them in partnership works as necessary
- Support successful integration and mainstreaming of climate change adaptation, mitigation and disaster risk reduction activities into local development and sectoral planning processes;
- Represent LWF and regularly participate in local level steering committee, cluster meetings, networks, and other forums;
- Ensure effective mainstreaming of issues such as gender, environment, disability, conflict sensitivity, etc. in the project cycle;
- Lead and carry out different assessments and surveys planned as part of the project
- Prepare periodic reports and submit in time to the area coordination office;
- Perform any other duties as assigned to him by the Area Coordinator
- Follow procedure as outlined in LWF World Service Ethiopia staff rules, policies, guidelines and other operation manuals
Job Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor or masters degree in rural development, agriculture, DRM/DRR, environment/climate change or relevant disciplines from recognized universality.
Minimum of 4 years relevant experience for Bachelor degree and 2 years for Masters Degree. Experience in leading a project is highly advantageous.
Key competencies:
- Strong communication skill in English (written and oral)
- Ability to interact with the target people
- Knowledge in areas of crop insurance, climate change, DRM and irrigation agronomy programming is advantegeous
- Previous related experience in NGO setup is an advantage
