COOPI Ethiopia is seeking for a qualified and competent HR Officer (temporary) to be based in Addis Ababa. This job offer is for a specific amount of time, covering for maternity leave.

The staff is reporting to the reporting to the Head of Operations

The HR officer manages the whole HR cycle for COOPI Ethiopia mission, including the following tasks:

  • Recruitment
  • On-boarding
  • Skills development
  • Management of staff complaints
  • Staff evaluation
  • Termination and feedback

Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruitment

  • Review the staff needs for each project and liaise with the PM to ensure a smooth and timely recruitment process
  • Starts the recruitment process including drafting the Recruitment Request Form and vacancies announcements
  • Lead the preparation and execution of Behavioral Based Interviews, supported by the program advisors, head of operations, country administrator and head of mission
  • Provide feedback to all shortlisted applicants
  • Regularly update the Recruitment Tracking Sheet with the details form the recruitment process
  • Facilitates the preparation and timely completion of staff contracts for all staff linking with the administration department
  • Follow up and ensure that all staff files are updated with signed JDs and contracts

On-boarding

  • Ensures that all new hired staffs have an induction scheduled and conducted with the relevant department in the field office

Skills development

  • Review and update skills development needs for all staff based on the yearly staff evaluations

 Staff Management

  • Maintains staff personal files (which should include all the required documents as per the staff file checklist)
  • Work closely with Finance Manager for timely registration and notification of staff and liaising with Pension Agency and Insurance company;
  • Assists the management on employees grievance based on COOPI HR Manual and Ethiopian Labour law;
  • Ensure that staff timesheets and cost allocation files are prepared and submitted on time
  • Manage the international staff files and visa procedures as per Ethiopian regulation;

Staff evaluation

  • Organize performance evaluation with the staff supervisors and produce the required reports at yearly basis and after probation periods

Exit process and feedback

  • Manages staff exit process which includes managing clearance, final payment, work certificate, insurance exclusions, etc.

Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Duration of the contract:

  • 5 months. The post is temporary and it is meant to be a replacement for maternity leave.

Gross Salary:  

  • Monthly gross salary is ETB 15,781.74 including applicable taxes, pension contribution and transport allowance.

Duty starting date:

  • March 15th 2020. 

For Existing Position – leaving date of current employee

  • Temporary replacement for maternity leave

Management level

  • 2, reporting to Head of Mission

Job Requirements

Requirements:

Qualification and Experience

  • BA in Human Resource Management or Business Management
  • A minimum of five years of relevant working experience with International NGOs or private sector in a similar position
  • Fluency in English and Amharic
  • Proven capacity to work in a team is essential.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental/local authorities, IOs and NGOs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in stressful environments and under pressure.
  • Demonstrated writing skills, staff data management and recording.
  • Full computer literacy.
