NISIR (Novel Integration for Survey & Innovative Research) is a research, training, and development consulting firm based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We undertake different consultancy works and projects in improving people’s lives. NISIR consulting specializes in big data collection and advanced analysis of data as well as conducting a wide range of project evaluation and development activities that strengthen different programs, institutions, and policies. Our services cross-cut various development sectors including agriculture, rural development, education, health, economic policy, energy, environment, and social protection. Currently, we are seeking a Research Associate I with some level of consultancy experience and enthusiasm.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

• Writes literature review;
• Collaborate with other senior researchers and develop technical proposals for bid submissions;
• Drafts, edits and/transcribes research reports, manuscripts, and other documents;
• Proactively support research and proposal developer team to meet all schedules and deadlines;
• Prepare survey implementation guideline, field supervision guideline, and quality assurance and data management framework; and evaluate the projects accordingly;
• Collaborate with the staff to access and identify technical assistance needs for new and ongoing projects;
• Lead and coordinate survey implementations - coordinate training and ensure work efficiency and effectiveness;
• provide technical and conceptual assistance to the field team, lead the pilot test, provide the valid comments on the instrument and research objective; and
• Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure appropriate integration and smooth running of the activities to the successful completion of assignments.

Employment type : Full time / part time 

• MA/MSc in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Development studies, sociology or related fields; and
• 2+ years of technical proposal development, survey management, data management, and project management experience in socio-economic fields, practically in consultancy services;

Technical and Other Skills

• Ability to build teamwork and meet deadlines;
• Sense of responsibility and ownership;
• Proficiency in verbal and written English language;
• Ability to work with SPSS, STATA, etc. software;
• Knowledge about scripting and program design through CSPro, Survey CTO, or ODK, etc.;  
• Demonstrated success in creating collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
