Job Description
Job Summary: the position requires an independence in planning and executing work plan, experienced in project management including prepare proposals, periodic and terminal project reports, participates in and assist in the design of research activities, and must be familiar with data collection and analysis. He/she also closely works with relevant teams within across functional areas.
Specific Duties:
Within the overall research and analysis priorities and schedule of work, the program officer supports research activities, organizes field missions, collects and standardizes data, checks data for completeness, appropriateness, and quality; and undertakes field monitoring according to protocols laid out by Research and Analysis Team;
- Undertakes desk reviews including print and online resources to gather information;
- Maintains historical and current research data sets and compiles them for current and future uses;
- Prepares scientific research proposals, reports, and publishable manuscripts;
- Participates in the design of different publications such as proceedings, leaflets, manuals, including formatting and standard set before sending to the publication unit;
- Supplies information to website administrators and to other media as necessary;
- Organizes and makes ready printed materials for exhibiting and distribution on different forums;
- Prepares project proposals, periodic progress reports as may be required by individual projects;
- Prepare project progress reports on a regular basis.
- Monitor project progress regularly and report the same to Research and Analysis Team.
- prepare project plan, budget and implementation schedules.
- Develops monitoring and evaluation systems and implements when approved.
- Performs other related duties
Job Requirements
Education: A minimum of master degree in project management, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, Natural Resource Economics, Environmental Economics, Industrial Economics, Financial Economics, and Other fields related to economics.
Experience: Five years of post-graduate work experience; at least one original research article published in a reputable journal; and competency in computer skills and use of statistical/econometric software packages (e.g. SPSS, STATA, EVIEWS, R, or DASP).
Language: Good command of spoken and written English.
Terms of employment: One-year contract with possibility of performance-based extension.
