Position: Project Driver/General Service Officer

- Department: Finance and Administration
- Location: Oda Bultum, Bedessa, West Hararghe Zone, Oromia
- Reports to: Project Manager
- Contract Type: Two years fixed term contract, renewable based on performance review

Job Purpose:
• The position holder is responsible for planning, organising, directing, evaluating, controlling and proposing alternatives to facilitate decision making on general, transport, mechanical, and driving services. Along provision of driving services; the position holder handles tasks and activities of utilities and travels.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and control the proper utilisation of vehicles and accessories of the vehicles of the organisation;
• Ensure the proper purchase and proper uses of tyre, battery, tools, etc, for all vehicles at project office;
• Plans or assures that project vehicles are maintained in good order: lights, brakes, signalling equipment, battery, radiator, oil levels, tyres pressure, oil changes and general maintenance are carried out timely
• Reports accident immediately to immediate supervisor or higher as the situation permits;
• Ensures that each car is equipped with appropriate accessories including fire extinguisher;
• Organise the annual technical inspections of organisation’s vehicle;
• Ensure the maintenance of the daily vehicle log through recording in all trip times, mileage and destinations;
• Arrange the purchases fuel and maintains fuel coupons of project vehicles;
• Submit with appropriate summary and calculations about the consumed fuel coupons to Project Accountant monthly;
• Manage deliveries and pick-ups as required;
• Fix tag numbers on furniture, fittings and other equipment;
• Maintain and repairs rented or organisation’s buildings, furniture and equipment;
• In consultation with the Project Accountant, register, label and code fixed assets of the organisation, as per the prevailing policy and procedures of the organisations;
• Suggests the disposal of fixed assets including vehicle with sound justifications;
• Advise regular payments of utilities timely;
• Ensures delivery of mails and documents as assigned;
• Ensures or collects parcel at customs/or the Post Office.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential
• Diploma in Management, Auto Mechanics, or Accounting
• At least 7 years relevant experience in driving or motor pool management or general services in NGO/INGO environment
• Ability in writing and spoken communication;
• Ability to sort, handle with care sensitive matters
• Computer skills
• Valid at least 3rd grade driving license
• Quality performance; viable solutions, transparency, helpful, integrity
