Dereja is a pioneer in establishing Career Center services in Higher Education Institutions, organizing regional and national job fairs and design and deliver employability skills training for fresh graduates.

Job Summary

We are looking for a self-sufficient Back-end developer to join our IT team. As a Back-end Developer, he/she will be responsible for the server-side web application logic as well as for the integration of the front-end part. It’s expected for the Back-end developer to have very good expertise in various programming languages and a great passion for developing innovative applications.

Here at Dereja, we encourage new ideas and foster creativity, selected candidates will be working with a team of varied expertise, cultural background and age’s circles. The back-end developer is set to have the following duties and responsibilities.

• Participate in new projects.
• Research, define, communicate, document and plan technical and design requirements
• Develop functional and sustainable web, mobile and desktop applications with clean codes based on Research and requirement document developed.
• Making improvements and new features based on feedback from users.
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Conduct integration tests and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of designers, Front-end developers, and system administrators
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
• Implementation of security and data protection
• Maintain a version controlling.
• Make suggestions for better solutions to problems.
• Keep updated of current best practices  and latest emerging technologies
• Be involved and participate in the overall application lifecycle

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• A Very Good knowledge of back-end programming languages and frameworks (PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, .NET, JavaScript, etc, Codeigniter, laravel)
• A Very Good knowledge of caching and DBMS technologies such as MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle, Redis.
• Good knowledge of Web Services or API, knowledge of how to create and use REST and SOAP.
• Good Knowledge of Data Structure and algorithm.
• In-depth understanding of web mobile and desktop development.
• Good understanding of web, software security principles
• Data migration, transformation, and scripting
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, Mercurial, SVN.
• Good understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SCSS for integration.
• Good understanding of front-end languages such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS for integration.
• Implementing automated testing platforms and unit test
• Setup and administration of backups
• Basic understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
• Time management skills
• Interpersonal and communications skills

Educational Background and Experience

• Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related fields
• Two or more years of experience in web developing, especially, back end development
